Dynomax Turbo Mufflers

Turbo, Super Turbo - I don't believe there is any difference, it's just what people call them.

Case in point - anytime I hear "Dynomax" my brain associates it with "Ultra Flow" to the point of saying the 'turbo" mufflers on my car were "ultra flows", probably because of marketing or hearing people say it. Hardly ever hear anyone say they have garden-variety "turbo" mufflers on their car but you can bet they sure are proud to let everyone around them know they have "ultra flows".

It wasn't too bad though things like replacing an exhaust system tend to be a little easier for me since I have a lift.

Anyway, the main hassle in my case was mating the headers to the exhaust. If you use any brand other than TTi for headers, you will have to make adapters to connect the collectors to the exhaust system. TTi does provide the extra tubing in the kit to do the job, it's a matter of measuring/cutting/welding the pieces and getting them oriented right which can be a little tricky. The rest of the system fit perfect, nice and level.

And a stick car to boot!! I've done several exhaust systems over the years without a lift. If you ain't old like me now, it's not all that hard to get the car up high and get to work but yeah, a lift always makes things easier.

These are Dynomax Super turbos 2 1/2" TTI pipes on a 440 with a .528 camshaft stock manifolds

TTI will substitute Ulta Flows for the Super Turbos in the kit if you didn't know. Perfect fit with no mods needed. There is a small upcharge, but not much.
Seriously? Last time I asked I was told they only sell their kits with the super turbos and that's all! I just ordered a full exhaust(headers to tips) 2 weeks ago!

Actually, I am in the process of ordering through Hughes Engines and they just sent me an email and said they can order them with the Ultra Flows at $155 a piece.

I have ordered 3 complete exhaust systems from them all with the substituted Ultra Flows. I went through Bill at Chicago Connection if that makes a difference?

The link below is what I have and is what comes with the TTi 2 1/2" exhaust, part # 17748 "Super Turbo" mufflers. Whatever you want to call them, they seem to work pretty well.

Honestly, $155 each on top of what you would spend is a lot for mufflers. Not sure what your combo is but if you've decided on a full 2 1/2" exhaust, that's a somewhat limiting factor already. Based on that reasoning, I don't to see how switching to Ultra Flows is going to be worth the extra expense.

I didn't pay anywhere near that for the ones I ordered. Seems like it was $50 - $70 extra total. The mufflers come with longer tubes welded on yo fit their kit, so not like you are just buying over the counter models.

That's crazy. Oh well... I ordered 2 ultra flows from summit, right at $100 a piece. $20 more than the super turbos.....p/n 17513 is identical in dimensions to what TTI gives you on the super turbos

I have 2 cars with the Dynomax Super Turbos. I do like them, they are loud.

They are loud and do drone. I got H pipes on TTI pipes with both.

Greg, you'll be fine with the super turbo.

Al, the mufflers on my Coronet are "Super Turbo" mufflers, I'm not changing anything. I actually bought them off Ricky two years ago. He has the same TTi 2 1/2" exhaust system on his Bee which came with the Dynomax mufflers. He told me he switched them out because he wanted a more "factory looking" muffler. Guessing he didn't want someone to look under the car and see the Dynomax logo on the muffs. You know his level of insanity.

Anyway, I was replying to the OP who was asking about the UFs. I was just saying if he was already going to buy a 2 1/2" exhaust over say a 3" system, his combo probably would not see much if any benefit over the turbos, especially if they want $310 more to add them to the order, that makes no sense.

Bill M - my mufflers are not that loud. The video was taken in my garage which has high ceilings so there is a lot of echo. Once outside, they're not really loud at all and with the windows closed I barely notice the exhaust. My neighbor's kids' late model truck is way louder, I can hear him 1/2 mile away.

I have the TTI exhaust system with supplied Dynomax mufflers, they sound alright except around 35-40 mph. I guess it's a "drone" I'm hearing.

I ended up ordering the TTI exhaust with the ultra flows. I think they are expensive because they have to modify them to extend them to work with the exhaust. I also ordered the oval tips so I have a good look back there. Thanks for everyone's opinion!

Shouldn't need any modification at all, the mufflers they supply aren't modified. The specs listed on their site are exactly the same as on dynomax site. They make the ultra flow in the same dimensions. The price difference is just the difference between the 2 mufflers plus I'm sure a little part mark up

If you look at model #17219 they are smaller than the super turbo's. Overall length is 19" where I think the super turbo's are 20".
