21 years ago today, I bought this.....

It is a 1976 with painted bumpers.
The "Monochromatic" look was really popular in the 90s, remember?

Thanks for the info. Kern, it looked familiar. lol In 1977 I was 17 and my first job that actually gave me a paycheck that I has to cash was at Fox Chevrolet here in Maryland. I worked at the truck center cleaning trucks for delivery but several of the salesman there drove new cars like your Camaro as demo's. When they sent us out on beer runs Friday or Saturday nights we would smoke the tires on those Camaro's going out and coming back. Lol Good memories.

Not trying to take anything away from your Charger, I love that body style and used to own a 74 Spring Special Charger myself. In order to get the job at Fox I had to learn to drive a clutch. A friend with a 1970 Charger taught me in the high school parking lot.

I had a 1976 Camaro RS black & white 2 tone, 350 L82 4 speed
special order, it was the dealership General Manager's personal demo
there was no Z28 in 76
1st new car I ever bought, it was a leftover unsold demo
in the summer of 1977, paid like $3500 for it IIRC
I had Cragers S/S's & an L88 style fiberglass hood too

not the actual car just the same paint scheme

These were some sharp looking cars:

Everyone was trying to comply with the safety and emission regulations and with performance taking such a hit, the cars got faster looking but slower performing. Vans with murals, Those wacky Aspen Super Coupes, the pinstripes and bird on the Trans Ams, etc.
My Brother had a '76 Rally Sport with the similar paint scheme, his was maroon with the black though.

How much was a 68-70 hemi charger back then? :moparsmiley:

Cool car Kern! My buddies dad bought a 69 new, green green and more green, SE, 383 car. Your pic bring back good memories

21 years ago, crazy I’m 21 now, you must be really old like in your 40’s. Are you a grandpa?

Cool back in the day pictures for sure and congratulations!
BTW, people in their 40’s are not old, but guys in their 50’s must wear Depends.

My son started calling me Old Man when he turned 18. I told him I used to change your diapers, one day you'll get to change mine. He doesn't call me Old Man anymore. Respect your elders!

Every year when this day comes, I think about how time does go by so fast.
Think about where you were in March 2000. What is different about your life now? Were you single then or married? What job did you have? Were your parents still alive? Did you have goals then that you have yet to achieve? Have any major things happened to you in this time? Can you look back and call out a pivotal move that changed the course of your life?
I see how my life was good but got better. Two days after I bought this car, I told Mary that I loved her.

Its neat to see some history of your car and how far its come. :popcorn2: 3 of our cars were green that we changed colors int/ext. You could find interior in salvage yards cheap back then.. We just started working on the first car my brother and I bought 34 years ago and I took a picture yesterday. When we bought this 69 my brother and I were 14...borrowed a trailer with dad's Ford f150 and went 10 miles to go winch it on w a come-a-long and bring it home. Had only a school permit.:) Dad nor the neighbor or the salvage yard we got the car from said a thing...Lol
The hood on there was off our other charger, it had a really nice black hood on this one. Originally white/black top/ blue int w console. 318 w cruise control. A bit unusual.

Green was a popular color for Mopars and Pontiacs. My Uncle had 2 green LeMans back when I was a wee little chap.

My mother had a green Pontiac LeMans when I was a baby. Big as an aircraft carrier.
