Rally dash overlay question

So on my 70 rally dash do I pull off the wood grain piece - dash is 2 pieces and the back has tabs- and then install the wood grain overlay?

Seems like the way to go, Install the tabbed piece to the plastic face, then the metal piece will be laying flat to attach the woodgrain to.

Where did you purchase you woodgrain overlays? There has been a lot of conversation of the different manufactures and quality of these woodgrain overlays. David Patik had the most beautiful and accurate ones from PCG, however, he has sadly passed. I suggest that you carefully bend the metal tabs to remove the metal face from the plastic. You can then have your plastic restored. If you have just the vinyl overlay, you will want to remove the original vinyl (which is tedious). You then want to make sure the the surface is very clean and smooth before you apply new vinyl. Good luck
