I pose this question due to I am adding an A/C to my 69 Plymouth Roadrunner. Do I need a double belt pully for the fan pully. Or can I drive it off my crank pully which has double pully groves on it. Thanks for any info. blue69runner.

You probably have to get a a/c crank pulley and a smaller water pump pulley

I thought that the double crank pully was for A/C car. Their was only one belt on the car when I got it. Belt drove the water pump and Alternator off the crank pully. I got the classic Air. package. Going to look in the box to morrow and see what is in their. Been to busy trying to get all the other stuff done. Thanks for the info. blue69runner

Before I did the Classic Auto Air installation, I had a NON A/C setup.
I didn't like how "busy" the 4 belt factory setup looked so I tried to see if I could make a 3 belt system work. 2 belts for the crank, alternator and A/C compressor and the 3rd belt for the fan, crank and P/S. I couldn't find a fan pulley that would work.
Anyhow.....
THIS is what the stock setup looks like on my mock up engine. This is without the P/S pump.

Sorry for these smaller pictures but here is with the P/S pump. These were a 3 belt setup using a 2 groove fan pulley. I didn't go this route because I thought that the fan pulley didn't have enough belt contact and might slip.
ALL A/C setups use a 4 groove crank pulley as far as I have seen.

I used the factory set up like the above for my Vintage air. I didn't like their bolt on crank pulley. Plus the OEM set up has a smaller water pump pulley.

Sticky notes were when I was lining everything up vertically, My final was all within .5 degree of vertical. I highly recommend doing this on the engine stand if you can, it's was easier!

This help's a lot. Appreciate the pic's and response to my question. Thanks guy's. Sorry no the engine is in the car. But no grill on the front yet or radiator in the car. So should be easy to get too. I do need to check what classic air sent me. All I did was mount the box under the dash area in the car and run all the wiring and duct work. So now into the engine bay and trying to get every thing done under their. Thank you again. Been a grate help. blue69runner.

There should be installation instructions you can download from the internet. I am going to install Vintage Air in my '64 Polara. I have the major parts ordered but have not got them yet. I have the factory a/c pulleys. 4 groove crank pulley, small w/p pulley and idler pulley and bracket.

Just have to look more into what I have. Know a single grove fan pully small. Think the crank pully is only a two grove. Also the alternator is single grove. Well guess will have to spend more money to get the set up right.

I had a thread going about putting a/c in my car and asking for suggestions. One guy that had done the conversion said that he had to upgrade his alternator to more amps, so that is something I am thinking of.

Looked into my box of part's I got from classic air. Their is a pulley that bolt's in the front of my crank pully and a idler pully. With instructions. Imagine that. Thank you for all the input. Well getting ahead of my self and just trying to get the car done.

I also had the add on pulley, but I switched to the factory 4 grove pulley. Also I called them about a different upper bracket for the compressor which they had. Don't be afraid to call them if you have questions. They were very helpful. I also rerouted the hoses as I didn't like the routing over the battery.

This might be the only A12 style with AC!
