Running a 360 engine in a newer Mopar. The EGR valve is good but the port on the intake is clogged. Does anyone have any good advice on how to unclog this? Or has anyone done this and have advice on how difficult it is?

We used to see this back in the 80's.
I would mechanically chip/brush/scrape as much as possible and then soak it with Kerosene and clean some more.
Another solvent might work better perhaps brake cleaner, acetone or lacquer thinner.
I just used what I had at the time. Kerosene is good because it isn't as hazardous as the other stuff just stinky.

Thank you, this is on an 85 ram charger. I went to emissions and it failed. Had a shop look into it a little bit and he reported back that the EGR port is totally blocked. They were asking like $500 to take the intake off and clean it. I can do this on my own just wanted to get some guidance.

On the LA's I worked on there was a plate underneath with rivets/pins that you could remove or separate and clean the underside as well.
It takes a while and it's a messy job.
Maybe look for a new intake?

Here in MI I would remove the manifold and have it hot tanked. You probably don't have that option in CA?

Was $30. to take it to a local guy with a hot tank.
Removed the bottom plate first!
Got it back, looked like new inside and out.

Mopar parts offers some really killer solvents for cleaning carbon... take a drive before yanking it a part.. got some good parts guys they should have something that will help out.

What's your report card say? What's high on the list that made you fail? Go to your favorite search engine and get creative with search terms and look to see the actions are needed to fix your problem to pass smog. Like high CO on smog test like terms should get you fixed up. Don't just start throwing money at it with parts hoping it's fixed when it really isn't! Good Luck

We cleaned 100's of them. Just pull the intake, remove the egr valve, and chip the crap out. They mostly plug at the intake to head port area. All we used was various chisels, punches, screwdrivers and would have them cleaned in minutes. Never had to tank them. My guys could start at 8 bells and be done by noon.

Most of them also should have valve seals, and possible heat riser work. I attribute clogging of the passage to the valve seals. That oil mix cokes things up worse.

Says it failed the the nox level. Should be 2200 and is coming out 2800.

So then just surf for fixing high NOX levels and see what they say, it's not that hard unless you like making it hard! Waiting for some un-needed, derogatory, sexist joke to come along! Good Luck

$30 dollar gasket and a half a day on your weekend will save ya $500
