The Super Bee's garage is about 25' x 20', and faces west, so it's a real scorcher in the summer afternoons. The back of the garage gets ungodly hot. Saw a commercial for Big *** Fans, but damn, $1,000 for a 72" ceiling fan.

Anyone have recommendations for a good 72" ceiling fan from the DIY stores?

In my shop area I installed two 3 blade Westinghouse Industrial 56 in. indoor ceiling fans. They are reversible. They move a lot of air.

Got this at overstock.com for our master bedroom......kinda looks like a spider on the ceiling, or something like that. Kinda ‘uggy’, not sure yet.
Was thinking of moving it to my garage, since it is a 72” 6-blades (black blades) reversible fan. Has dimmable LED light (gets super bright!) & a remote, too. Think i paid around 300 for it. It’s made by the ‘Parrot Uncle’ company.
I will say....it sure does cool!
Other places like HD & LOWES sells these things, too.
Happy hunting! Scott

I did a search of Lowes and Home Depot, and yes, there's a bunch of the 72" fans; but I'm also looking for people that have had good results with the fans. Lots of reviews where people are saying, noisy, not windy enough, etc etc. But good to hear the Parrot one does cool.

I just recently went shopping on Flea Bay for an air conditioner that would cool my garage so this summer
I can work on my car without sweating my butt off. I can't put a fan in because I have a 7' ceiling, so that
was my only option. I picked up an air conditioner that was only used for a week for $80.00, and he was
local so I didn't have to worry about shipping. 11k BTU should do the trick.

I got 2 52" fans in my garage! They worked great when they were new I've hit them a few times and now there not do fast anymore

Those big *** fans work really well and move some air! I would get one if I needed ... but idk if it’s made in USA and that’s one of my things if I’m paying up it better be made in USA!

That's a big fan for such a smallish garage space.

For when the garage is closed up -
How about a simple high-flow 6" fan and extract system instead? Run a thermostat for control. Make sure you push the air out with the fan, and draw fresh air in with a plain grille - use insect mesh to prevent ingress of bugs.

When the door is open, just use a pedestal fan - only needs to be about 2' in diameter.

This one is very quiet at any speed, forward or reverse. One thing i do not like is that the blades are kinda narrow, the ‘appearance’ ya know, but it does cool just fine. I like the 6 blades, as opposed to 5 blades, as it has better ‘cooling’ at lower speeds, too.

yea, I have a 9.5' ceiling, so I have room for a fan (and no worries about hitting it). There's also an attic above the garage, so could vent it that way through the access hatch. I don't do a lot of work in the summer, I'm trying to do any work now while it's still nice. Summer is for driving the Bee.

"Big ***" fans

I have four of the cheapest fans I could find at Home Depot
Works great. But as I’m in Texas also added AC.

Pikser,
Ceiling fans or floor fans?? Just curious.
I have 2 fans in my garage now, one floor swivel fan & one shelf fan. I took the ‘finger protection guard’ off my shelf fan & wound up tripling the ‘breeze’ from it!!! Ha. Too many years of ‘crud’ on the shroud, i guess. Gotta watch my appendages though, hee hee. :gay:

seems like some foam board insulation would be your answer but that stuff is like gold now.

I have a 52" fan in my 22x40 shop bay with 12' ceiling.

Can't even feel any air move.

I'm contemplating making 72" blades from light, straight wood.

Considering 1/4" poplar. Possibly planed down to 3/16.
