Mark Worman

I cant watch any of the auto related resto shows...too much made for tv bs. might as well be the real house wife of the auto shop.

I have learned alot about our Bee watching this show over the years as I walk on the treadmill....It is alot better than seasons 1-6.....I will keep watching and walking....

something teaches, looking at the sponsors, and the manuals, which every now and then framed, I learned where to get spare parts and information

I respect the guy for what he does and his knowledge. The goofball stuff is the writers 100%
I've been a television writer/producer for more than 35 years and I can tell you you're absolutely correct!!! It's the writers, or rather the producers. I've never been involved in a show like his, or any of the other 'reality' shows, but people I've worked with have told me they are under pressure by the producers to highlight the personalities (read drama, silliness or just plain weirdness) and make the build secondary. But GYC does not stand alone here. Bitchin' Rides does is, Phantom Works does it, Iron Resurrection does it, though maybe not to the extent of Worman, but they all have that element. It's become a formula and it's a shame. Worman seems like an okay guy and very knowledgeable, but I'd rather watch the build than watch him dance.

VFilms, I agree,Producers. I worked a few shows such as Rides, Overhaulin' and HorsePower TV.
They believe in the WOW factor.Don't care if it's wrong or right.
Unfortunately the general public believes in what they see. A complete and total rebuild in 7 days ? There were people that thought Overhaulin' was real...

I really like Bitchin Rides, I don't think they have much in the way of artificial drama. They do try to sink a hook before every commercial break, but it's really watchable and their fabrication is pretty impressive. I think GYC could easily do the same and likely grow their viewership.

The early Overhaulin' seasons were great fun. I don't even care if it took them more than a week to get those builds done, it was fun to watch the teamwork.

Guess who an Executive Producer is on that show?
Yep, he is - and therefore has control over content. Keep that in mind, folks.
The show is what Worman wants it to be.
Further, since they're cowtowing to the Discovery meganetwork thingy, it takes on the same old tired busted Discovery "reality" formula, as VFilms describes.
ALL their stuff looks alike.

He got some brownie points from me on the last episode

Was wearing an EVH Shirt the whole show

Mopars and Van Halen - What could BEE better

Let's not forget it is his show, He drew up the concept and although you may not see it in the credits it is his show, he is one of the producers. The writers may come up with ideas for the goofiness,he makes the decisions. I for one hate the stupid cartoons on it.

I enjoy the shows that actually show fabrication and skill. Tricks and tips, as well as the odd opinion. There are so many awesome cars out there to fix up, why not just go with that instead of the drama trash?

It's ok. He can be overly goofy at times, but I do love the cars that they do there. I just wish they would bring in some normal resto work that's not a 1 0f 10 car or 1 of 35 car and so forth. Don't care for the cartoon portion at the end and would like to see more of the restoration process and les talking.

Dan Short at Phantom Works is the worst for drama. Seems EVERY car he works on has a problem. Duh. It's an old car, it's going to have problems. But he takes it to another level. Every repair is earth shattering, but somehow he seems to overcome it. If I reacted like him to every problem I find building my car I'd have to up my prescriptions.
