Time for a new grill, old one rusted out. I haven’t been impressed by any of the grills I’ve seen in the last ten years. Anything out there better than the basic grills at the big box stores? (Preferably under $1,000).

I have found that regardless of how much money you spend, they eventually all take a dump. Went to the store and told them I wanted the best one they had, for around a hundred bucks. I've had it for 6 years now. I just need it to cook, not show it off. Just my opinion.

Broilmaster. $700-$800 depending upon its size. Just a great all around grill that is easy to work and lasts. I wouldn't be afraid to buy a used one if you can find it.

How big of a grill?
How many burners you want?
Need more intel for accurate, and honest answers!!!!

Nothing to big or fancy, just the 3 of us. 2-3 burner, no need for side burners or warming drawers.

Just checked out their website and I like what I see. Stainless burners and grates and ceramic briquets. I haven’t seen a grill with briquets or lava rocks in a long time. I’ll find a local dealer and take a closer look. Thanks.

I've tried them all over 40 years.. best so far is Nexgrill from Costco. Have had a 4 burner (w/side burner) at the lake now for 6 years, left outside with ZERO rot out or burner degrading. Bought another, that's a basic 3 burner, for the house last year. Delivered to the door for peanuts..

.weird and I just went to both Costco US and Canada and neither have the Nexgrill showing anymore. I guess the container ships stopped supplying.. lol

Don't be stupid cheap like me! On my 4th or 5th gas grill plus a kettle grill that needs brickette's and lighter juice. $1400 or over 40 years.

I am in need of a new one as well. My old Weber Spirit has rusted out. It is probably 10 years old and I bought it from the local hardware store. It was assembled and he delivered it to my patio. He always had parts in stock for it like grates and racks. I never had an issue with it. Just gas and occasional cleaning. Too bad the local store owner retired and the no one tool over. I will look for another like it and a seller that carries parts. I will probably downsize a bit. Only 3 of us here now and I do use my smoker as well. It has searing capability.

I bought a cheap 2 burner Weber about 5 years ago. About $300, no lava rocks, no ceramic blocks, no problems so far, works fine.

I bought my first Weber Genesis back in 1995 and they still have necessary parts for it today. You call Weber, and their customer service is excellent. It works great and I use it regularly. Your burner tubes, grates, etc will need periodic replacement, but the fact that Weber carries them means I'm good to go for several more years.

Interesting enough, I got a similar "red head" (red box) Weber for free when a neighbor built a cooking island in their backyard. Called Weber and they had all the parts I needed. Our local ACE Hardware carries some too. I guess my point is that (in my own experience) going with a Weber means it can last you decades. And, the fact that I can do every necessary repair/replacement speaks to their simplicity, which is a good thing.

The one thing I wouldn't get on any gas grill is a side burner - too many kids around the yard for that to be safe (again, just my opinion). There are really good outdoors gas stoves for that purpose.

And, they are made in the USA: https://www.weber.com/US/en/made-in-chicago/weber-1909658.html but with components US and globally sourced. So, someone in America still gets a paycheck when you buy one.

When I was in the market for a gasser, I studied the subject hard!!! It's just me and I don't need a lot of whistles & bells. I went with a Nexgrill Fortress from Costco for $140. It's a 2 burner and if you put it up against the Weber Q series, you'll see how much of a brute this thing is! You can take the handle of a Q and flex the lid back and forth like it was a beer can, bending the lid. Not so with the Nexgrill.
Weber isn't the same product that it was 30+ years ago, thin metal, easy to tweak it. Good Luck

Here's a Weber Spirit that would be a good replacement for my old one. It looks like it's heavy built. $379
I have a 3 burner now and rarely use all the burners at once. The 3 burner is $479 I like the big wheels and no cheap azz little casters like a lot of grills have.

I have a broil-something....Lowe's...2 burners, had it for 11 years now. Stainless body is doing great. I've replaced burners, the metal burner tents, and the grates one time. Initially it was one of the "infrared" models, but I pitched the goofy filters after about a month. Gave up on the click-button-lighter, use old-school matches now. Getting ready to do burners again - it's the tube-style, and they alternately rust and burn out, so the small pinholes become HUGE "I'll burn HERE" holes over time. But, it's just me so I really only need one hotspot at a time...

I'm not real picky. I'm not Gibbs, cooking on a fire in the fireplace...but I don't need anything fancy. My true love is wood fire, but I do keep a bag of wood chips that I can salt the grille with if I want during cooking. A friend works at an RV place and I get LP refills for free ;)

I agree with Weber as the best. Mine is almost 20 years old and functions like new.
Back in the day Weber used to demonstrate their gas grills by toasting bread. The Weber would toast bread over every square inch of the grilling surface. The comparison model would only burn bread in the center grill area and not even toast it along the edges of the grill surface.

This one is on my list to check out. Never had the coated cast iron but like the idea of it.

Looks like they carry them at Home Depot which is even more convenient for me. Think I’ll stop on the way home, thanks.
