Mark Worman

I tried..... then I saw cartoons and him doing Mom jokes

I could not sleep last week and turned it on about 2 am to see some stupid cartoon in a court room talking about mixing EV2... Like the cars but after that I have no problem NEVER watching it again... Neat Idea BAD execution on the "show"...

He's actually pretty well respected within the hobby itself and has quite the impressive personal history,
one worthy of respect if you look into it.
In fact, he voluntarily stopped his show a couple years ago because the demands of the production company
(exactly what we're talking about here - they constantly demanded manufactured drama from him) about had
him personally bankrupted, divorced, you name it.

He had high turnover in the shop because of the tv show and its' 12-15 hour days and their being made to
get in front of a camera constantly, so he was losing some pretty good skilled craftsmen from it, too.
In the end, he decided to turn away from the show production and just go back to what he loves - the cars.

That to me makes him somewhat of a hero - he told the Discovery baboons to take their **** and go away.
I am aware of Dan's time in the military and he is to be recognized for it. He had a long and distinguished career and should be honored for his service to our country.
I was not aware that he pulled the plug on his show. Thanks for letting me know.
Some of what you have written makes my point. There is enough drama in building these car without TELEVISION PRODUCERS manufacturing it.
Perhaps the way he addresses, IMO, some of the problems with his client's cars is just who he is and it's his way of dealing with these issues. But there is no doubt the show obviously took a toll on him. And I agree, he is to be commended for putting his craft before celebrity.
About his high rate of turnover, I'm sure production demands on him and his people had something to do with it. Personally, my first concern as a producer is the comfort and safety of the talent. But I can do that. I don't answer to large media companies, for exactly the reasons we're discussing here. DeltaV's video, which I had never seen, explains a lot. I appreciate his post, and yours for setting me straight on a few matters.

I was laid up on the couch a couple of Sundays ago & binge watched 4 episodes. I think the goofyness has calmed down, but what was with the 10 minutes of horribly dopey cartoons at the end of each episode?
Your not as young as you use to be,i warned you about double dipping:bananahit:

I can handle GYCs drama, goofiness and scripted in for tv crap and still learn something thats beneficial to me. That goes for all the other shows also, except one. I could not handle Orange County Choppers. The dialog between father and son disgusted me beyond my ability to watch....real quick. Not sure how much of that was scripted but it was too much for me.....

If I want to watch cartoons, I'll search out some Bugs Bunny

I watched a lot of Fantom works but Dan's fake drama was hard to take. In an early episode he talked about his military background and since he and I share one of the communities he served in I reached out to some people and vetted him. That said, it was/is very hard to watch the show and if you will notice how many people disappear off the show.

Building a vehicle is hard enough, trying to do it with a camera crew has to be a major PIA.

Where are new GYC Episodes ?

Dan is always shocked when a 60 year old car becomes a can of worms

The worst was his "chicken little" routine with about every vehicle but of course they ended up fixing it despite his comments about it being "impossible"..

How about his endless brake checks?

There is one episode where they fix/build a car for a kid, I think it was a VW or something and the kid doesn't want to pay for it, is complained about it, etc. The viewer is rewarded with some (what looks to be pretty legit) mechanic anger.

Cut the cable six months ago. I don't miss 99% of the crap that populates cable and satellite TV these days...including GC. Hell, YouTube videos are far more entertaining and informative than his show was. Gosh, let's see, which E-body are we gonna talk about today? GC in a nutshell. Oh, and the added '68-'70 B-body for a distraction.

His grab-*** buffoonery and nonsense really took away from what could've been a really good show about Mopar restoration. Might still be potential there, who knows? His ship sailed long ago.

JMO,I would rather watch a show with scripted fake reality that has cool mopars then to watch shows that have NO mopars at all.

Cold War motors is my favorite of the car shows!

Seems that it would have been much easier to swap drive trains
