Working on the Outer wheelhouse lip, actually adding it from parts quarter. And then we will add the outer skin, and Re Spot weld them together... of course, we also found a hole and a previous repair inside of wheel well we will have to fix properly.... It sure would have been great if the previous Metal Butchers would have actually welded something instead of rivets and glue....sigh

Quarter is done, Now onto the Rocker,Inner is rust coated.. We are waiting to get floorpan in to see how much farther the rocker needs to be pulled out...It was hit on this side pretty hard at some point. The floor pans were shot and just covered up with sheets of metal riveted in. We pulled that crap out and the supports look OK. Once I clean all that and rust coat the supports inside and out, w'ell lay the floor pan in.

Transmission was real clean on the inside. We drained and dropped pan to remove cables with no issues. Pulled Tranny, Pulled Push Buttons, and Cables. I'm going with a Console and floor shift.

Judging by the now empty engine bay, our cars were the same color when new.

My car was chestnut Brown... It was wrecked on the Pass side. They replaced door with Wimbledon White one which they painted Brown...Then it was scraped on Drivers side and they replaced with a light Blue door, and then they painted the whole car Wimbledon white, Then Later someone painted it Bright white... I have stripped four layers of paint and Mudd off of some areas....It's going to the painter in BARE METAL with Ospho everywhere, so I can tell him that all Prep ,Bodywork, & Paint is his responsibility....I don't want to see Blisters, Or flaking, or Rust Bubbles in the foreseeable future !! The Car will be Garage kept ( not a Trailer Queen ) but not daily driven & left under a tree either....

Ok, see it better now. Thought it was the ruby red poly.

Have you already sourced the shift cable you need for the console? It's different than the pushbutton cable...

I havent, I did know it was different...I have a later model 727. couple of questions, My shifter is a 64 and has the places for the shift and park Cable. Can i use it with just a shift cable with a later model trans with the shift lever coming out of the top of the pan/side? I havent gotten that far yet...

There's a member on the site here named Doug [@dvw] who is very experienced with our pushbutton transmissions and he's been very helpful to me in answering any question I throw at him. lol Suggest you PM him and get his opinion, and he may also have some sources for parts for you if you need them.

My understanding is that if you go from the pushbutton to console shift, your cable length from the console shifter to the trans is shorter than your pushbutton cable. I'm not clear on the differences re the parking brake setup, but Doug is and I'm sure a few other members are too who have 62-64 console shift cars. I believe that you could re-use your original transmission and drive shaft with your "new" console.

i'm enjoying following your build and I'm learning things from it. Thanks for your posts and the inspiration that comes from them!
