Vertigo while under the car?

I have had "Persian gulf syndrome" as the VA calls it for over ten years. Sucks it is like being drunk on a roller coaster when it hits bad, mine came from a reaction to the H1N1 shot, next day till now I have it. And to make it worse I put a lift in right before I got sick. I definitely cant work on my back or overhead for any period of time. I just learned what my limits are and have to deal with it.

I have vertigo and it made me park my tool box 15 years ago. No more sliding under a car or dashboard or my world spins. If I take the medication 45 minutes before attempting anything of the sort I have a shot at not getting sick. I have this since my youth, could never go on any spinny rides or cork screw roller coasters.
I can't even look up at the stars without getting dizzy:(
Man like me. Meclizine is my best friend!

Thanks to all that have responded. Apparently I am not alone and this is not something that I normally would encounter. I thought back after I posted and remember having the same feeling laying on my back hooking up a new sink several years ago. So it wasn’t fear or allergy related for me.

A google search brings up many people that have suffered the same. It could be what’s called BPPV benign paroxysmal vertigo.

Next time I will have the car on a lift!!

Look up the Epley maneuver, which is a series of moves with your head to help reposition crystals lodged in your inner ear. Hasn't helped me much, but it does help some.

I have not experienced Vertigo yet while working under the cars or jeeps or kitchen sinks. I will take advice here and pay close attention in the future. I had to experience Vertigo in Flight School by self inducing, sitting on a swivel chair, laying my head on my right shoulder and had someone spin the chair around. That is something you do not want in the experience in the air behind the yoke /stick.

It just hits me. If I am driving I just pull over and take a quick nap to be safe. Crazy crap here.

Today I was working under my car, which is up on stands and ramps from a recent tranny rebuild. After about 2 hours of working on my car bolting things up, I started feeling a little nauseous and had a dull headache. I took a break for about an hour and it went away. Started working again and the same thing happened, in about an hour.

I have a professional CO meter (I’m licensed HVAC) and had 0 ppm. I am 66 and had a recent physical with no issues, and wear cheater reading glasses for close work only.
It was a really nice day here in CT and I had the overhead door wide open, but used the heater in the morning.

Has anyone else experience this??
Not scare you but I started having that happen and it ended up being a non cancerous brain tumor. Found it on an MRI.

Fortunately, I don't have to worry about that.
