Is it possible to get all of the oil out of the rear with a suction gun?

I think these guys are right.....90% or more. Unless you see a bunch of metal shavings in the gear lube, I wouldn't worry about it. If you do, lube, rinse, repeat
 
Depends how good you are at sticking your hose in a hole Mark. Maybe you should get Submit to come out and direct you in your quest.... :D
 
While I was doing ring/pinion n adding Sure grip, I drilled n tapped an NPT hole at dead bottom and put a plug in it. Gear oil change is now easy peasy

Looks like a well made pump. I used a cheaper looking one and the one hose popped off halfway through the siphoning process. It's gets pretty hard to move that heavy oil but it can be done.

I removed my lube before removing the third member to avoid having a bigger mess. After the hose started sucking air and repositioning it once or twice, the housing had about 1/2" left in the bottom.
 
we have had luck with a piece of 3/8 fuel line in place of the clear plastic hose as far as getting to base and having a decent angle.

What weight/brand oil will you be using as a replacement? I should really do this with mine also.

Whatever it calls for in the service manual, I'd put back in. I just changed the gear lube in the Road Runner's transmission & it looked fine, but because it's 52 years old, I didn't think that it was a bad thing to do. Thinking about doing the rear end, but only if I can get the majority of the old oil out.
 
Get it warm first to mix up the particles, and it will come out easier. Then drive around some and do it again. You won’t get it all out, but most of it.

I got some 3/8" clear flexible plastic hose from Home Depot today & was able to get most all of it out. Opposed to what came out of the 4-speed transmission, the rear end oil was pretty ugly.
