For a clock. I'll probably take mine apart to see if simple cleaning or dressing the points will get it going but slim chance of that. Anyone seen a parts house or repair business that offers a quartz conversion kit for do-it-yourselfers?

Sorry I cant answer the question

So I'll just follow along to see what info you come up with

I have the factory console mounted tach in mine that is HOPELESSLY optimistic in regards to accuracy.
I keep thinking about having it redone or just convert it to a clock instead

You talking about a tach or a clock? A watch maker/jeweler if it's a clock.

I did it to my 66-300's clock, not that hard of a swap out. I used these guys as they were close to Chicago when I still lived there. You just gotta find out what kit you need. Good Luck
Automotive Clock and Automotive Gauge Repair and Restoration, Speedometer Repair, Tachometer Repair, Car Clock Quartz Conversion, Gauge Cluster Repair, Instrument Services (clocksandgauges.com)

I did stumble across them but I couldn’t figure out the kits either. Guess I will have to call them if no one else knows.

I did a 1959 El Camino clock. Easy, straightforward and just had to drill a small hole in the PCB with a dremel.

I use the rt-eng.com tach driver PCB. It has a calibration routine built in. You can get accuracy at 1000 and 4000 RPM. Anywhere else and it's a bit off. I have videos on my tach conversion I can send you. I can also do your conversion on my bench if you'd like.

I contacted Instrument Specialties, they made a conversion kit for my 1969 standard, non-ralleye clock for $79 ( I think)... took me about 20 minutes to watch their video on their website and about an hour to install. I have the clock powered up and running on my workbench for about a week and it has kept perfect time.....very easy to do!

Here's the kit I used for my '66 Coronet. It's worked perfectly for several years now. Just follow the video, no problem.

I just dug through my car file and found the receipt for my 66-300. Mine is also the S-3015 unit, I paid a whooping $44 for it back in Feb. of 97. Tx & shipping totaled it to $55. Cheap stuff! Good Luck

Great - thanks guys. Looks like kit S-3015 from Instrument Specialties is what I need.
