Hello all,
Can someone clarify if this crack/split is suppose to be there on the 69 RR K-member please? 383, 4-spd
I'm buying this shortly and want to make sure it doesn't need a weld or two.
Yes, I know it needs the tranny shield and cover.
Thanks

Just my opinion and that’s all assuming you are referring to that line just left of center I would definitely look really good at everything and g from there. :jackoff:

Sure looks like it needs welding/replacing. MO
Edit: If the overlap as dadsbee it is OK but looks ugly.

yeah, I was thinking the overlap, couldn't think of the correct phraseology. I'm getting a better pic of it shortly. Perhaps a weld or two.

 All I offered was simply a thorough inspection and go from there. Nothing wrong with some reinforcements if you feel that is needed. :luvplace: :steering:

It looks like it was repaired. They are two piece and welded together but that one does not appear factory (from the picture)

Oh I have, but your weld looks much better than his
Probably because it's not covered in 20 years of road grime and I cleaned up all the welds before blast and paint. Like all of them it's been beat on, but I highly doubt the crappy OE weld is cracked.

Looks like the engine has a newer Hemi 6Qt. pan, but the K-Frame
looks like it was on the Dukes of Hazzard car because it's concave.
Bottomed out more than a few times!

What i see wrong is a 1970 k-member that has a 1969 anti-sway bar attached! What crack?

I cleaned mine up when I pulled my engine and it looks like the factory welded it blindfolded. Mine must've been made on a Friday...

The factory welds a seldom pretty. But I've never seen a crack on the center seem. The most likely area would be the torsion bar anchor pin area. And even that isn't all that common. Personally after doing this stuff since the mid 70's I've never encountered a cracked one myself.

Only crack I've had on a k frame was a busted tube where the lower control arm pivot shaft goes.

I'm putting a skid plate on my 440 K-Frame because I'm running the Milodon Road Race
pan and because I'm a Chicken!
