I’m starting this thread because I’m now to the point of no return! My daughter, who is into cars, truck and everything thing auto, went to trade school to become a welder and body tech. She can do body work and paint like crazy! Can you see where this is headed? She has been bugging me for sometime to let her redo the body and paint on the 69’.

I watched her last summer redo he 88 Ramcharger and she did a very good job so, I caved. Oh boy. So here we go...

The paint and body has always been a good 10-20 footer. As we found out yesterday there were 6 coats of paint just on the hood! So far! Let’s see what happens with the rest of the car!

I dug up the bubbles on the hood to see what was underneath...more paint!

bubbling stripper action. Not the pole stripper action either!

That white / yellow doesn’t want to come off! But there is more black underneath it! I certainly hope the rest of the car isn’t like this! But I’m sure it is!

Stay tuned!

I wish my kids were interested in cars like I am, your a lucky man. Let her rip! 440'

NICE!!! Are we seeing the next Jesse Combs, Kristi Lee doing Mopar magic for her dad? Make your dad even PROUDER of you girl!!!

That is awesome. At last ... a teenager who doesn't sit behind their thumbs playing games with imaginary friends. :)

Looking forward to this project unfolding.

Update: three days later we’re down to the original color of the hood. I think the rest of the car will be similar but time will tell.. 8 plus layers later we are down to the yellow and brown sealer then bare metal..

Stay tuned. This might be a long process!

Awesome.. enjoy it ! She has talent that others would die for! Congratulations on it! Hope she gets to follow her dreams. It all starts somewhere!

make sure you neutralize the stripper when complete or it will come back and haunt you!

That's awesome, a motorhead in the making!

She’s pissed at how many coats of paint there are so far!

How awesome is this? I'm envious, my friend. VERY cool to have an offspring take to one of your
interests as seriously as she has!

Yes it’s very cool and as she was growing up at dance school I figured no way.. But things changed and she really grew to love dodge and the 69. She skipped out on dance for soccer and basketball and then cars! The one thing was I didn’t push any of it. The only thing I said to her was her freshman year she was not sitting around all summer. She went to the summer workouts for all sports. She loved it..

She now owns 5 trucks! They are all parked in my yard, except the one she is driving! Looks like a darn used mopar lot! Gotta love it!

Wow! Getting all that weight off the car may give you a little better gas mileage LOL

I’d like to think maybe, but with the 512 stroker, I still better not drive by a gas station!

Ooof, I'm building one of those, is it that bad?
Well it all depends how you drive it!

lol! It didn’t buy the car and build the stroker to be good on gas! But it’s not outrageous at all. In the build process, I kept the CR down just under 10 so that may or may not help a little.. at least it’s pump gas with a boost here and there. It likes the octane boost and cool weather for sure. Good luck with the build and enjoy it!
