With the current state of Our Economy, I was looking at Gold & Silver for a Safe Haven. There's been a lot of talk about the Dollar De-valuating more lately. Has anyone bought these products, and from who ? Are the On line Stores, like Apmex, Kitco, GoldCo, etc, Reliable, to purchase from, and have them delivered ? Anyone have Bad Experience with Any ? Thanks for any & all input...

Tried not to make this Political at All, so More Views could be expressed, as it affects Us All...

I have been buying Silver Bullion now for about 12 years and routinely do shop on-line for buys. One you have to look at the "SPOT" which is the base line for all precious metals being sold. Then there is the cost over spot that retailers and such will charge for the purchase of an piece whether it be Rounds, or Bars. That will equal the cost per Ounce of the .999 rating of purity. I have bought from local coin and jewelry shop here in Reno and then from online sellers such as APMEX and the like. I have had great success when doing so and even Ebay does have some quality sellers. The only downside I see is that the smaller sellers do tend to drag their feet when shipping. The slowest of the slow Snail Mail. The others tend to ship more expeditiously. I have not had an issue with not receiving my purchases as of yet because it would cause some really difficult Fraud and Liability issues if lost or such. The best way to start is to go to a shop or dealer in your local area and if there are coin shows, seek out all the info you can as most in this are more than willing to help new comers. Research and learn is the best advise so do your due diligence if you decide to jump in. Just be advised that if you decide to invest in say Paper Bullion Stocks, you are only getting a piece of paper and at times when you want to cash in, they do not have the actual Bullion to back it up. Currently happening in Australia!!! It's like playing the Horses and betting on "THE COME' as a result so be warned. If you need some more infor just let me and others here that are doing it know as I am more than willing to help ya out. The fact I reside in the Silver State also makes it interesting for me. Good luck and don't be afraid to get in. Just that when ya do, consistency and a routine becomes the norm...cr8crshr/Bil:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::usflag::usflag::usflag:l

Occasionally I buy some silver and put it in the safe and forget about it. After a few years it really adds up. I doubt I’ll ever need it but it’s nice to have it. I’ve also gave it as gifts in the past. There are a lot of different bars and coins so it’s easy to find something for anyone.
I’ve always ordered from JM Bullion on line. (Never any problems.)

Thinking about doing the same thing. Been told not to let them talk you into coins, not sure whether they meant rare coins or gold coins recently minted. Wonder if buying some gold stocks would be simpler or a mix with ingots.

I’ve bought mostly coins (new) because not only do they carry the silver value but often carry a collector value. And most government issued coins are trusted to be pure silver.

Buy low and sell high, make sure it’s pure and legit. Pawn shops may be a good place to check out and actually put your hands on it, there are places to check out like the coin dealers newsletter may help.

I buy silver bullion there are many reputable sellers online. Track silver prices and know what the SPOT price is. You will likely have to buy above SPOT price but not by much. Be wary of anyone selling way above SPOT. You can track the price of precious metals online from various websites. It's a commodity, I typically buy silver incrementally over long periods of time. 440'

Well in a way that is OK provided you buy 1965 and back as the content is greater in the metals it is minted with. They refer to that as "junk Silver coin." Yes they do also carry a "numismatic" value as currency but are not as good as rounds, etc. Still it is a great way to have something of value besides Toilet Paper and Ammo when and if the economy collapses. cr8crshr/Bill:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::usflag::usflag::usflag:

I have bought from Apmex, JM Bullion and Northwest with very good experiences... stay away from pawn shops or private sellers until you learn how to spot the fake stuff. I prefer tangible metals over shares of silver or gold... just my 2 cents.

I was talking about NEW pure silver coins like American silver eagles and Canadian maple leafs. I’ve gotten them from several different countries. The same silver content as rounds but more trusted to be pure silver.

sdbullion.com, providentmetals.com. I wouldn't advise buying any though if you're plan is to buy now and sell thinking you're gonna make money in the short term. The minute you buy the price always seems to drop. However, if you plan on holding and don't have to sell because you NEED the money then i would get some. It's more about wealth preservation and having some piece of mind should the dollar turn to **** even more than it has. Also be very careful of fake silver especially and even gold. I would stick with reputable sellers and buy the newest minted uncirculated coins. Something like 2021 Australian Kangaroos, 2021 Canadian Maples, or US Gold Eagles but you'll pay a premium for those.

I like coin silver. 1964, and before. Silver dollars are counterfeited more and more, so I don't buy them as I don't have the "eye" to spot the fakes. Bullion is not for me as when going to sell, there is a assay fee of 10%. As far as I know, buyers don't care who made the bar, all are suspect. Bars markings can be counterfeited too and there could be anything inside.
My usual seller sells to me at Spot plus 5% for any amount I wish to buy.
For gold, I like Krugerrands as they are 34 grams of 22 carat (1 ounce of pure Gold), measuring 1.290 x .112 and are recognized around the World. Any weight or measurement discrepancies suggests fake. They also come in 1/2 and 1/4 ounce.

Ok, you can have a safe full of gold and silver but how do you spend it on groceries and other stuff if the poopy hits the fan?

I've seen "junk bags" for sale, they are usually $100 in pre-'64 coins. Having some of these seemed like a good item for bartering, in those times. The coins and bar style would be tougher to trade I'm sure ?

At the rate the government is printing new money, it will all be worthless. I remember when I was stationed in Germany and we went on a trip to Italy. I exchanged a couple hundred dollars into lira. I had over one million and thought "cool I'm a millionaire" Then I bought a soft drink and it cost over 1200 Lira.

Precious metals are just a hedge against inflation. In the event of a total economic collapse, gold and silver will be as worthless as money. We will then return to the barter system. Then the real value will be food, ammo, soap, spices ... and of course... toilet paper!

Don't forget FUEL. Gotta run your generator, and feed your furnace. Cars....50/50 on the "required" scale, but heat will absolutely be required (based on geography), and refrigeration most likely unless you're lucky enough to be able to build (and secure) a root cellar.
