I have decided to build my own boom tubes and exhaust system. Has anyone run boom tubes with mufflers? I'm planning to run mufflers and exhaust cutouts both of which will go into the boom tubes.

Yes, two of my Uncles did this in the late sixties with 1950's hotrods.

Yes, I had a 50 Merc with an Olds 98 engine. Had a lot of fun with it.

Almost ready to start on the exhaust. I had to replace the subframe connectors, replace the drivers floor pan and having the seats redone.

Yes we did that but the cop's would give you a ticket. Still outlawed here in Fl. But it was neat.

Yep. "Flame Throwers" They are still doing it. There was a flame thrower competition at a rat rod car show I went to a few years ago, the judges were the spectataors. Who ever got the biggest appalause won a trophy,,,,,

Finally have everything tacked up good. Now I have to remove the exhaust to clean up and finish welding everything together.

I made something similar but ended up pitching it, looked and sounded cool but I couldn't believe how often I drug them even tucked up close to the rears. Hope you have better luck because that looks pretty slick. We need a picture of the car with the exhaust poking out now:thumbsup:

Here's mine, the mufflers were homemade to turn the exhaust. In this picture they weren't done, I made some cool sectioned tips that later got added.

I did start the car even though it's not all welded and no collector gaskets. It sounds good. I haven't run it with the cutouts open.

I have 6 total. 747mopar that's a cool looking exhaust you built. Hate that hit hit things. I always look to do something that is different that no one else has. I had mopar performance subframe connectors and had to take them off because they were 1 1/2" under the Floorplan and rear subframe. I had to build my own and had to channel the rear floor.
