The only rattling noise my ‘66 Satellite makes is from the loose ring inside the shifter surrounding the engage button. I’d love to know how to disassemble this and add a gasket? Other suggestions to tighten it up and prevent it from rattling around in there?

The button looks to be adjusted a little deep. Loosen the set screw and spin the knob until the ribbed part is more flush with the housing. Set screw should be at 6 o'clock.

Have the same problem, thought about using a 1/8" strip of clear tape around button. The part of button that inside outer housing.

You could down grade it to the updated plastic knob. I just keep my thumb on it.

I believe they started in 67.
