Fastener question

After trying (and failing) to find inserts for the rocker panel trim on a 68 Coronet, I decided to make my own. Here's my question for you fab or sheet metal guys: what is this fastener called?

I thought it was a weld stud at first, but that funky insert-looking thing on the back side made me rethink that. Kinda looks like a pem nut...ish.
 
Hard to tell from the pic, is it a sweged stud
 
Beekeeper has it right. They are inserted into the hole and then pass current through it for a weld. Kind of like spot welding.
