Anyone play an instrument?

played the Clarenette when I was really young
my mom & 2 of my sisters played before me
It was/is a family heirloom

I totally hated it, didn't want to do it, I was forced to play it
I wanted to play the trumpet or the organ originally
we had a high dollar organ in the house, my mom was very musically inclined

when I was like 11-12ish,
I had a paper route, out on my Schwinn Pea Picker 5 speed dragster :poke:
& one of the 1st things I bought, was a Candy Apple Red Tesco (spelling)
w/dual-pickup w/wah wah bar, electric guitar & amp
from like JC Pennys or something
actually a $100 cheap POS, probably a $50 amp but I thought it was cool
I never took any lessons
I had an older guy (in his later teens) in the court where I lived
he played, he played very well & he would help me a bit
showed me a few cords & how to fret, hold my fingers & wah wah
(probably spelled all that **** wrong)
I would go out on the back porch & rock out to the radio
especially the canyon behind us (at my dads' place in Lafayette hills)
was a good reverb/sounding board

I'm sure the neighbors hate it too

It never really stuck, didn't keep my interest
once I got into gocarts minibikes motorcycles offroading,
later surfing & fast cars
I left all the musical stuff behind

Wow I actually found a picture in a dusty corner of the interwebz....with my shaggy hair and everything. Based on the guitar player in the pic I'm thinking late 90's. Chicks dug me.
(Isn't that why we played rock & roll in the first place??:p)

And yesterday I donated the bulk of my guitar collection to a charity, a local music venue with a free after school music program for disadvantaged kids. It included my 1969 Gibson SG that I bought in 1974.

Got a couple more. :).
I had to sell my Custom shop SJ200 back twenty years ago due to being workless. I found it in a advertisement a month ago clear across the country in Nova Scotia.
The Black one a 1912 Gibson harp guitar.
:)
In the case. A 1910 Gibson 3 point F4
And a 68 Strat.

I've got about 7 or 8 that I am going to sell, I have 19 total now and I am going to keep the rare and unusual ones only.

that’s some pretty rare iron right there! Nice collection!

Started playing trumpet in 5th grade. Played through 12th grade. Took a year off and then with prodding by a high school classmate, I picked it back up and played in the local Hosie band. Then I played the last two years in college. Haven't put it down since until this crap hit. I haven't picked it up since October. I need to get it out and get some lip back. We have a gig booked for May.

Edit: I'm still playing the same horn that my parents bought me in 6th grade. That was 1978.

right on brother! Good horn players are worth their weight in gold.

Unfortunately I'm not that good. More like the weight of copper.

well, copper is at an all time high right now. Ride the wave, brother, ride the wave!

I still need around with my Coronet, not the car,
the Horn.
I guess I even liked Chrysler products in my music selection.

Music is something you can do all your life. Sports, well, once you hit 45 it's a fight to do some things you used to do. I know guys that play their instrument well into their 80's and 90's. Some are pretty incredible at their craft. Don't get me wrong, I love sports and played my share, but now, I probably would not be able to run the court for one half-fast-break.....but I can get my trumpet out and play a 2 or 3 hr gig on that without any problem.

A coronet is a crown.
A cornet is a musical instrument.
