Does anyone know if this wiring leading into the back of the turn signal housing is meant to come out or not? Amber bulbs were bad, and broke..used needlenose pliers to get sockets out. New bulbs don't want to go back in as easily as they should.
Thought that maybe you use a flat edge screwdriver to pry up, but no luck. Appears to be a lip on the inside of housing.
Thanks

Don’t think they come apart. Any good auto parts store or tool truck should have a light socket wire brush that will clean the inside of the socket and contacts.

Don't think they come out. Brushes to clean gun barrels, just find the right gauge/caliber brush. If finding them is easier than PRND21's brushes.

These are the brushes that I’m talking about, they have bristles on the end to clean the contacts. Not very expensive.

Are the 1157's the replacement bulbs? Seems like the socket should only have 1 nub on it. Doesn't want to go into the socket. Amazing how something so simple can create such an issue for me.

Maybe try a 1034A? Think they're interchangeable, brightness maybe only difference . Maybe something in bottom of socket is frozen and won't let you push it in far enough.

I'll check to see if there's an obstruction in them. Looks like there's only one groove for the nub on the socket.

Socket should have 2 grooves in it for the 2 posts on the side of the bulb. One groove is shorter than the other so the bulb can only fit one way. Socket should have 2 spring loaded contacts at the bottom, bulb grounds through the case.

I noticed the longer groove, so I guess I'll just have to play with it more. Thanks.

If it is a park/turn signal it will have 2 contacts inside and a shallow and a deep groove for the locating pins. It will only go in one way by design.

Just an update, I tried the old 1034-A's in the sockets. Think they're a little less in diameter, but didn't put calipers on them. Anyway, the bulbs came today. Had to spray WD-40 in the sockets to really loosen them up. First one went in, but wasn't easy! I was trying to get the second one in, and it fell out of my hand to the floor and bulb separated from the socket! So, just for hell of it, I tried an 1157-A again, and after a few tries, it went in. Success!!
