Can someone please explain tattoos?

This is what the Bible says, * the hair on the side of your head* or disfigure the edges of your beard. f*g and you must not make tattoo markings on yourselves. I am Jehovah.

It's from Leviticus which is a book quoted a lot by the people who condemn gay people. I don't think any religion has ever gotten things right. Here's more of that.

a* his mother and his father,b and you should keep my sabbaths.c I am Jehovah your God. d or make for yourselves gods of cast metal.e I am Jehovah your God.f you should sacrifice it in such a way that you gain approval for yourselves.g h * must be cut off* from his people.* of your harvest.i *j and the foreign resident. I am Jehovah your God.k you must not deceive,l and you must not deal falsely with one another. m and thus profane the name of your God. I am Jehovah. n and you must not rob.o You should not withhold the wages of a hired worker all night until morning.p* a deaf man or put an obstacle before a blind man,q and you must be in fear of your God.r I am Jehovah.s With justice you should judge your fellow man.t You must not stand up against the life* of your fellow man.*u I am Jehovah.v You should by all means reprove your fellow man,w so that you will not bear sin along with him.x nor hold a grudge against the sons of your people, and you must love your fellow man as yourself.y I am Jehovah.z and you must not wear a garment made with two sorts of thread mixed together.ab * For three years it will be forbidden* to you. It must not be eaten. c d“‘You must not look for omens or practice magic.e* the hair on the side of your head* or disfigure the edges of your beard.f*g and you must not make tattoo markings on yourselves. I am Jehovah.h so that the land may not commit prostitution and be filled with loose morals.ij and you must show reverence* for my sanctuary. I am Jehovah.k and do not consult fortune-tellersl so as to become unclean by them. I am Jehovah your God.m and you must show honor to an older man,n and you must be in fear of your God.o I am Jehovah.p q and you must love him as yourself, for you were foreign residents in the land of Egypt.r I am Jehovah your God.s * and an accurate liquid measure.*t I am Jehovah your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt. u I am Jehovah.’”

So many Christians pick and choose from the Bible. Take about 3 steps back from your religion and take a real look at it.

My uncle would always tell everyone he had 2 dragons tattooed on his chest and one dragging on the ground.

I see no need to make a decision about whether other people should get tattoos, how many, or where.

I knew a biker chick, pretty hott and cool as Hell.......but it looked like she was stood up against a wall, naked; and bikers threw bad jailhouse tattoos at her

IMO this is definitely a "to each their own" subject.
Many years ago when I was in a way different place in my life, I made an appointment to get a big awful tattoo of a dragon and sword, the day I went to have it done, the department of health had closed the tattoo shop. A greater power had intervened! I would not want that tattoo today. 20 years later, when I was in much better place, I got my first tattoo. I now have 4 and they all have meaning to me representing the things that give me strength and motivation - my family, beliefs, heritage and passion. I carry them with me everywhere I go but most people will never see them.

But again, to each their own.

That is a great explanation. Very well said.

Many years ago, Back in the early 80s many of my friend's got tattoos. pot leaves, dragons, skulls, ect. and I just didn't feel comfortable with it, still don't have a tattoo to this day, don't have anything against it really as long as it's not on your face or whatever.
Point is it's not for everyone.
Two of my close friends have recently removed their tattoos.
moral of the story is just make sure its a lifetime thing.

Ok guy, whatever you say.

And that's also your judgement.
See, every decision you make requires a judgement.

The phrase, "being judgemental" is one way to try to shame people into not thinking for themselves and to force another's opinion. It's the old way of saying, "that's rayciss".

You're using word thinking.
"I think her tattoos are gaudy, and I'm not attracted to that look" is an opinion.

"She has tattoos, therefore she must be a brainless whore" is a judgement.

Can you judge the difference?

You also have top be judgmental in order to form a opinion, so now can you judge the difference? I doubt not!

That's exactly what I said in post 137.
And our friend has made the judgement to opt out of the conversation.
That's okay, also. And that's my judgement.

Anyone remember the old joke about the gal who wanted a tat of her boyfriend on her upper thigh?
After it was done she said it wasn't a good likeness so the artist said he'd do another on the other thigh, and of course she didn't like it.
The artist asked for an impartial opinion and she agreed. The artist went outside and there was the local drunk. Calling him inside the artist asked for the drunk's opinion.
He looked and said, "I don't know who that guy on the left is, and I dont know who the guy on the right is, but that guy in the middle is Willie Nelson!"

They are forever is the bottom line here. Choice to self immolate one's self happens to be a very destructive trait. :screwy::screwy::screwy:Besides, I hate FOOKING needles!!! cr8crshr/Bill:usflag::usflag::usflag:

THIS is what destroyed my impression of tattoos on men.

Men used to fight wars and drink wine from the skulls of the enemy.....Now we have limp wristed queers like this guy sporting ink.

IMO this is one of the main problems with tattoos today, people (such as the beta male pictured above) have determined that getting one is "cool" but have no emotional attachment to what they get, they just get whatever is on the wall or in the book. For them its more about just having anything than it is the tat itself. This is why we now have so many young (and not so young) people with hideous tattoos across their bodies most of which have no meaning, they are just adornment because in their "click" its about how many you have not what you have.
