My Welcome post: '64 Sport Fury

Welcome to FBBO from Ontario. Nice 426 Sport Fury. Too bad these cars didn't get the recognition that the GTO's did.

Welcome aboard from NJ. Very nice & rare car. Best of luck with it and thanks for posting the pictures!

Nice 64! Welcome from Canada (and another 64 guy)

How unusual is the 426 in the 64 Sport Fury?
I'm not sure. Maybe someone else can chime in.
Whats the history on it?
Original owner bought it in Torrance CA, then moved to Washington in '84ish. My Step-dad bought it sometime soon after from the original owner. Drove it for a year or two, then bought another one. Same year, same color but with the 383. Not sure what the plan was. After he bought the second one, the 426 just sat. Last registered in 1989.
Other than that, it's pretty much all original. I put an Edelbrock carb on it, redid the brakes and lines, flushed the coolant, new tires, battery plugs & wires, cap & coil and she fired up! Doing the alternator today. needs a radiator & exhaust.

I think really want to keep it in "survivor" shape. Just get it mechanically sound, maybe a stereo. Who knows, I might still change my mind. I'm going to just cruse around in it for now let it speak to me.

My Brother got the 383, but it was in lots of pieces. All of them there, but not in the right places, lol.

Welcome aboard from Ohio. Pretty darn rare.

welcome to FBBO from NorCal Sierras

I worked on it today for about 6 hours. Got the alternator swapped, fresh wiring for most of the stuff pertaining to it. Paint on some brackets for the alt. Oil change.

Mostly just glad I was able to drive it to a friend's house to show off at the end of the day.

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome!
See you around.

Welcome from NC. I love a 64 Sports Fury. I was looking for one when I happened on to the 1964 Dodge Polara 500 that I did purchase.

Thanks, 64fury74charger. Do you remember what model your champion radiator is? Did the brackets line up okay on it?

What a SWEET car to inherit with a 426 yet! Lucky you. That is a rare car. All the best.

I don’t recall the model number but I just ordered according to my model year and engine. I did have to grind out a small area on the left side of the flange to clear the battery tray, but that’s really all and this radiator has been working fantastic for about 6 years now and we haven’t had a single cooling issue at all in either car.
