Am i crazy (Driving 69 Satellite from Kentucky to Oregon)?

Sorry, phone battery ran low last night so I had to stop writing. Another problem I encountered yesterday was the car stopped shifting into 3rd. That made me pretty nervous. Was able to limp into a little church parking lot in a town called Fairfield. Not sure if it’s Illinois or Indiana. Fluid looked fine and I wasn’t sure what to do. I’ve always had manual transmissions but then I remembered someone on this post talking about kickdown linkage so I checked it. It was kind of binding up and not springing back. Wasn’t sure though because I’ve never dealt with it before. Anyway I was able to get to an Autozone just down the street for some wd40. As soon as I had it sprayed it sprung right back into place when I pushed on the linkage. Another forbbodiesonly member saved me by mentioning that linkage. I really appreciate everyone’s help! Thank you.

Also was able to get the cigarette lighter working so now I don’t have to stop at a McDonald’s and charge my phone. Previous owner must have disconnected it because that’s all it was.

passing through Owensboro, Kentucky yesterday. It’s hard to get myself in the shots traveling solo.

If you are in Owensboro you really have to go to the Moonlite Barbeque.

My favorite restaurant ever!

Leaving this morning from outside Champaign, IL headed towards Des Moines Iowa and on towards Nebraska. Been getting a lot of comments about the car pretty much everywhere I stop and lots of thumbs up going down the road! People sure like these old cars. Honk if you see me on the road.

Wait!!! Your still alive?? We wrote you off weeks ago.... LOL... Hope your enjoying the trip...

The crazy trip has begun. Picked up the car yesterday. Haha... was doubting my decision to drive it back in the first few minutes. Right away the car pulled dangerously hard to the right. I knew there was no way I could drive it more than a few miles and slow. Luckily the guy that went to check the car out for me when I purchased it had a shop nearby. We were able to get it on a lift and found a bad drivers side brake hose. Passenger side had been replaced recently. Got the brakes bled and good to go. Was really lucky that guy had a lift. It would have been real hard to attempt that by myself roadside. I owe him big time. I’m on the right and my buddy Troy on the left at his shop. And the 69 Satellite I’m attempting to drive 2100 miles home.

Looking at that driver side tire you might want to hit an alignment shop

If you are referring to the picture in the garage they sometimes will look like that if you jack them up and set them down because the control arm kicks out when you take the weight off. I think it looks better in the parking lot picture it may not be that big of a deal. Yet I wouldn't be surprised if the bushings are in need of replacement.

Great to hear it's going well. I'm envious of that trip and that car! It looks great, maybe we should pitch in to replace those rims on your arrival in Oregon though.

hey sam if you stop in omaha the best and safest hotels are in I-80 west heading west to Lincoln, but get of on the L street exit, which is on the west side of town. You are only two minutes from getting back on, and restauraunts.
