Today I came across a 2001 Ram 2500 with the 10 cylinder in it. It was ridiculously priced at $300, so I bought it. Has anyone here worked on them? How hard is it to get parts? How hard is it to get power out of one? Does anyone know of any resources to get some knowledge along those lines?

It is not running and has 300k is miles on it, but it is a solid no rust Florida truck and looks better than you would expect for the price but not much better, heh.
Thanks
V

I have about 138,000 on the 94 2500 I bought new. I freshened it at 95,000 and added Crower roller rockers and Doug's headers with dual Flowmasters. I achieved very little in the way of performance increase but, runs like a top. Installed a Transgo TF-2 at 60,000 and it still shifts with authority. Definitely could use more power, occasionally I think about a stroker 440 upgrade.

Isn't the V-10 truck motor basically a 360 with an extra set of cylinders? I'm sorry if that is a stupid question, but I remember hearing that years ago. I have zero experience other than a friend that had a V-10 Ford and it was a gas guzzling slug.

Yes.

Based on the 5.9 magnum but no distributor (coil over plug), 1.6 rockers and some trick intake stuff to have a wide flat powerband.
Properly maintainted they are a workhorse for towing or large loads not really made for high performance.
Not a slug by any means.

All the LA based Magnum engines have 1.6 ratio rockers.
The Ram V-10 has only 8:4:1 CR so raising compression would help power a bunch. I'm sure a different cam and throttle body would work, also.
The Ram V-10 was made for torque-450 lb/ft.
