Hello! I just took my third member out of my 64 Polara to install a locker but I noticed the carrier bearings (I think that's what they're called) are different on the old open differential and the new locker.

The previous owner mentioned something about either the complete rear axle or the differential coming from a newer mopar vehicle.

I had new bearings om the shelf (same type as in the open diff) but the axle diameter is 51mm and the inner diameter of the bearings is 46mm.

Is the bearings different from the older vs newer axles or have I been ripped off? If so, could I get a set of bearings with the correct inner diameter for the carrier and fit it in my old axle?

This is the only picture I have where you see both bearing types. I cut the old ones apart getting them off before I realized they were different...

There are 2 different size bearings. Cone sure-grip take larger bearing. picture is a cone sure-grip.

Just the inner race is a different size.....the outer is the same O.D.

Both reply 2 and 3 correct above. Any carrier can go into any case, just need the matching bearings. It happens if you don't have an old Chassis DC book or FSM.

Phew, that's a relief! Anyone happen to have a part number for the correct bearings?
