Am i crazy (Driving 69 Satellite from Kentucky to Oregon)?

I didn't want to piss on the OPs good luck and progress but....Yeah, those wheels....
Glad to hear that the trip is going well.
Hey...If you want a set of 14" rallye wheels, I'll make you a SWEET deal!

Hey man, they match perfectly with my mullet! Haha... yeah those wheels have to go was my first thought too when I saw em. Maybe a set of cragars or magnum 500s is what I’m leaning towards. Or maybe ralllyes

Hey pretty soon you will be pushing towards Wyoming!let us know when you see Nebraska!

Man, what an experience. I give you a lot of credit for embarking on this trip with an unknown car. Heck, I don't know if I would attempt it with one of my own. You've got bigger balls than I do. Here's to smooth sailing on your way home :drinks:.

This is a great thread. I commend you for undertaking this trip. You get to see the country, hopefully meet some FBBO members on the way and get your car back to Oregon. Looks like a win/win/win. By the way, I concur with the above comments, those wheels gotta go bro. Keep posting updates and enjoy.

Glad it's going well.
I hope your not living off fast food.
Try and find the Mom and Pop greasy spoon diner's.
It'll cost 3 dollars more but you get to eat real food and talk with some good local folks.

Life is an adventure and in the end, memories are what we have!
Back arond '95 I flew to S.F. area of Ca. and drove backa 67 383 Cuda, but it had been restored by a great guy and drove a lot.
Couple week ago, I sold a good car I had driven around her a lot, the next day the trans lost reverse and first!!!
I admit IF I want to start a long trip with an unknown car, there are some things I would want to check REAL good. Brakes, radiator, charging.... But like said, like should be an adventure!!!!
Looking forward to the rest of your journey!!!!

Haha.. maybe I just have a smaller brain! Thank for the good wishes.

Passing through Kearney, Nebraska and refueling myself with coffee. She’s not doing too bad on fuel. Seems like 16-17mpg average

if still there on the main drag there is a texas roadhouse 1/2 mile north exit 280 I believe. . Best local food there! I figured you would be in Kearney mid day.

Way back in the late 80s early to later 90s I drug lots of 68-70 B bodies home, some ran. That made them what 25 year old cars, used and abused! Back then there were always some out of state'rs looking for decent projects worth the $> I was in Missouri and I had cars. Guy calls from N. NY state asks about a 69 3838 4 speed Roadrunner I had just drug home. . It was like Feb and cold. I had driven it up and down the road a few miles an that was all. Seems to be good runner. Seemed is key word. Well, the guy flies into K.C.and I pick him up at the airport. That was 1 hr drive one way. He is about 35 and wearing nothing but a light leather jacket. It was cold! So we get to the shop he looks it over good, we drive it down the road just a ways and the heater core starts puking on the floor! Damn..... He says, I want the car, no problem, we will just bypass it. I said it will be a long old ride back to NY STATE! He was from up there where they had the winter Olympics (Lake Placid?) and he spent the winters working on snowmobiles and that is what he drove to work! I bet it was 800-900 miles.
I called him a few days later, he made the trip back no issues , just NO heat!!!

I'm glad it's going well, enjoy the trip. It's amazing how acute your sense of smell, hearing and feel get when driving our older cars anticipating something going wrong.

Great goin' Sam! Keep us updated and good luck.

Some popcorn for everyone watching...

I have two of those only smaller and a few other popcorn poppers. I like popcorn unfortunately can no longer have it.
There used to be a good smorgasbord in Grand island years ago. Stop there every trip threw till we were told not to come back.

haha... sounds like my trip but I do not think it will be as cold. It is pretty chilly though without a heater. Gonna get colder going through Wyoming! I can drape my little sleeping bag over me if it gets too bad. Thanks for those stories!

I live up in Canada and my pickup truck was in the shop so I had to drive my 71 Challenger the 120 miles each way to work in January with -20 weather. It was all good except the heater core was plugged so I'd drive the 2 hours in my snowmobile suit, toque, snowmobile gloves and an ice scraper to scrape the windshield. No one dies on these deals but it does show if you're up to living life or watching other people living life.
