Am i crazy (Driving 69 Satellite from Kentucky to Oregon)?

limping but determined that old Plymouth will make it!
That is a great car,,,newer cars would have left you on the side of the road.

Thanks guys! I’ll reply to you guys later. I think I can make it home tonight if no more unexpected issues pop up. Still idling like crap when coming to a stop or taking off. It’s ok though when I get up to speed.

I made it to Oregon though as you can tell from the pic. And no I didn’t buy but I probably broke the law by the looks of those signs!

Watch for those state troops with on board radar, they got $117 of my hard earned $$$.

Thanks for the documentation of your journey ... I got a big kick out of it, sounds like something I would have done years ago.. or not to long ago while heading to Waco area with a buddy and dealer serviced (freshly at that) K2500 Chevy some where into Haiti Mo we lost an alternator and when I checked the rest I put on an idler and tensioner with a new belt.. He knew me to come prepared so all we had to do was find parts . He was posting on FB never travel without your mechanic while I fixed it all back up and burnt myself ... it got better! We drove further and lost the transfer case sounded like a jet engine, yep we were in trouble in Ak. pulling the car trailer. I got creative as I realized what happened, chain rubbed a hole thru the transfer case and lost all the lube.. I had a limited time frame to get to Texas and back, and it wasn’t happening so I filled the transfer case with Lucas engine oil additive on a gravel parking lot and we turned it around and headed back... it was noisy and bearings were screaming and when it got quiet he held the wheel with both hands and we waited , it made it 500 miles back with several refills of Lucas and 90w! What a trip! We got back to town and had some beers! I won’t let someone talk me out of taking my truck ever again .. Yes we’re are still great friends and he went on the next trip for truck sheet metal with me in my Ram. It’s a dam good laugh, what you can do in a pinch.. even though it’s way wrong!

My last traffic ticket was a photo red light camera. $500 right here in California.
Not trying to "out-do" you but I'd just go along with a $117 fine here.

That $117 would have $300 here. When say the fine will be $117 I almost laughed. Only time on vacation I got stopped.

On the rough idle.. If it's junk plugging an idle passage I've cured a few of those by raising the engine RPM's to around 2500-3000 & slam the choke shut... As the RPM's fall to around 12-1500 fall let the choke open & the engine will recover... Do this a few times & see if it corrects the problem.... What it does is force fuel to be drawn through all the passages hopefully washing any crap out....

Whatever the case you have an adventure under your belt that most of us are envious of... Congrats!!!

Sometimes a bottle of Berrymans can fix a carb idle issue.

No man! You're cars on a hippy trip! And finally, now you can pour some weed down the gas tank because it want's some of that 60's hippy air!!! You know? Stoner food for cars!:rofl::thumbsup:

So can "Kentucky Mountain" homemade spirits/high octane fuel. Cleans human plumbing and fuel systems.

Thanks everyone for the advice. Tried your fix Wild Rt but couldn’t get the clog fixed. Got a bottle of Lucas fuel system cleaner. It’s all the gas station had. Only have about two more stop signs the last 100 miles! If I get sleepy I’ll pull over for a quick nap.

The home stretch....awesome!!!
It's been a great ride from where I'm sitting

Gotta wonder if possibly a plug wire is breaking down or a plug is giving up... Or as previously mentioned maybe the points are closing up.......

Road trips can find any weakness.....

We made it! Over 2000 miles. It’s been awesome having all of you follow along! I’ll post some pictures tomorrow of the car in her new home and answer any questions plus reply to posts I didn’t get a chance to earlier. Thank you all so much for coming along on the journey and for all the advice and help! My eyes can’t stay open any longer so I’m off to bed. Good night!

So the tally that I recall is ONE tire, a few fuel filters and several tanks of gas.
Heck yeah, man.....I'm quite happy for you!
To ALL of the 'fraidy cats that worried about the trip....

Rough idle...air/fuel mixture?
Congrats on the car and the trip and to you for having the guts to do it.
