I want to install AC in my Fury. And want to use a clutch fan to replace my fixed fan. Does the number of blades affect cooling/ and power loss ? have 318 poly.

More blades = less power & better cooling (in general)

I guess I should have asked , is a six blade fan enough for a 318 poly with AC, and stock radiator with a shroud. Or would a seven blade fan be a better choice?

After rebuilt on my poly, I had cooling problems and still had the 4 blade on my car. Among a number of fixes, I added a 7 blade with OEM shroud (no clutch) - I believe this contributed to getting my motor running cooler. If I recall, A/C and police/taxi cars (I have a '63 Fury) were equipped with the shrouds and 7 blade fans.

6 or 7, the pitch of the blades is what moves the air.
Hood closed , engine at operating temp , engine at idle.
You should be able to place a dollar bill on the grille and have it stay put if your pulling a decent amount of air.

My 64 Belvedere Poly came with the optional 7 blade fixed fan.
I swapped it out for the Mopar Performance 5 blade clutch fan kit #P4120758
I've installed many of these over the years. They work very well.

I agree find what Ma used and make it similar or modify as needed. Keep notes so you don’t forget what you did or didn’t do.. Best of luck and keep us posted.

I use a 7-blade now with an RB stroker, it works well...it is the aluminum-blade unit that was used on the mid/later 70s models (I think?) I was using a steel 7-blade from a truck, and while I didn't see a change in cooling, I'm thinking lighter is better for less stress on parts and less parasitic loss.
I had very good results with the old MP 5-blade kit fan, maybe better than the factory 7 blades, but that one ended up getting destroyed and they are very, very had to find anymore.

Curious with the aluminum fan ya have, is it all sized the same - bolt pattern and dimension? If so, I'd like to maybe find one and drop the heavier steel one I have in.

What's the diameter od those 5 blade fans ??? funny thing I do have a 5 blade from a 3.9 magnum...reverse rotation :(

Yes all standard Chrysler BB bolt patterns.
.....Come to think of it...I may have trimmed a tad off the edges to fit it in my shroud, I can't remember. The part number is 3462149 and comes up as a 20", but 20" fans never fit my shroud without hitting somewhere...so check your shroud clearances to be safe.

They were 18" or 18.5" to fit the late 60's shrouds.
People have said fans from various later models like the 5th avenue or trucks and such were the same, but every fan from a later model I found was too wide (19" or 20").
That's why those MP 5-blades are so desirable....

Yes, what beanhead said. The latest I did was I put a 75 Chrysler Cordoba radiator with the 75 shroud and the Mopar fan kit in a 63 Belvedere LA 318.
