There was a thread before about the cam break-in machine, the yootoob put these up next on my playlist..



 
When you think of the combustion process and how it works, it is amazing to imagine an engine revving to 10,000 rpms or more!

Pretty amazing how it even works at that rpm.
 
With that in mind, it is understandable how the internal combustion engine had such humble beginnings. LOW compression, low rpms, spotty durability. Smart guys learned how to push the boundaries and get more and more from these machines.
 
Yea, it's easy to imagine something spinning at 10K, (think of a die grinder), but humping up and down that fast blows the mind.
I have been know to come close to 10K rpms a time or two, but not quite.
 
I'll be thinking of this when I feel my 505" wrap up over 6k:eek:
(I'll still enjoy it though!)
 
Can you imagine a 10k rpm engine SCREAMING between your legs, crotch rocket bike!! NO WAY JOSE!! DATS CRAZY!! Lumpy cammed v-twin with torque and low rpm cruising is way to go.
