Hi Team FBBO, Big question. This weekend we will be showing the car in Worlds of Wheels here in KC. I will show a few pics of it "ready" to show. Got a call from a buddy who is a Judge at these types of events. His Question is, "How does One show a Convert in a Judged event?". If one keeps the Boot on then is it like keeping the hood down?? So, what is correct? Top down, Top half way up, Top up? Opinions please? Best, Brian

Thanks in advance Folks. Really like to hear from any Judges out there on their opinions. Best, Brian

Never shown a car at an indoor show before, but it looks great just like it is.

It's a convertible so top down for sure.
Top up it looks just like a coupe but with a few wrinkles :)
Good luck at the show - I'm sure people will be impressed with your car.

Very nice.
No question ..... top down.

OK Folks, last night I had a read of Way Too many judging rules for different organizations. This is what I found. If you are getting judged for the Real Deal. That is Corvette Gold, Mustang Gold, I do not know what MOPAR is as I could not find a comp organization, then it is not only top up but windows up as well. The glass gets judged as well as gaps. In Monterey and such, it is top up, windows up. Riddler, top up windows up, check condition and the gaps.

NOW, here is the kick. At those big judged events I understand that the Judges will Notify the car 15 minutes in advance of being judged. The person showing the car Must then be there to answer questions, open/close doors, hood, trunk all checking gaps and such. As well, start, run, lights, radio, top up/down and such. Soooo, THAT is NOT what World of Wheels is all about.

I read the Judging Rules from ISCA who does the judging for WOW. They say Nothing about top up or top down. What they do say and I found it to be interesting, is WOW or ISCA events are NOT Cours De Elegance type of shows. "We are Rod and Custom" and our judges are best schooled in Rod and Custom. Now, that makes sense to me. Not particularly a great deal for our car, but it makes sense. In short, "our judges are not schooled in every "original" aspect of every car, we can not be". Again, that makes sense to me.

So, here is our deal. What you see above is our Car. This is how we love it. We like the way it looks. We think our family will like the way it looks. I know better than to complain at WOW about how Mine is "original" and therefore ought to be treated differently. It is a Car Show that I can share with my wife, her Mom/Dad and some friends. In the scheme of life, the only huge part of this deal is the enjoyment we can have as folks come by. On Sunday, we will pack up and drive it home for fun use. Life is GOOD!! Best to you all, Brian

You took all the fun out of owning an older car for me.... Pretty sure you do not have to EVER worry about a Riddler award

Yea Joe, the judging part is the least fav. The best part was having the Fam down at the show. That was worth the price of admission. The car did well, but it was the most fun putting the key in the ignition and driving it home on Sunday evening. It was GREAT!! Best to you all, B.

Forgive me for being a bit of an *** in my comment...
Your story reminded me of a really beautiful C2 corvette I looked at 20 years ago who had lost out on some BS corvette judging event by having the wrong washer on his alternator bolt.....

Gorgeous car! While this post is way late, thought I'd share my WOW experience. Was invited by the shop that did the paint on my car to join them at the 2019 WOW in Milwaukee. A couple, not all, of his vehicles are seen in the photos around my Plymouth. Man was it cold then (mid-Feb) and the car still got some road spray on it being carted there on a carrier. I had to leave the car running for over 2 hours to run the tank down a 1/4 tank as it was a rule at the show. Anyway, I just showed it as viewed, top left up, windows down and doors open most of the time (batt had to be disconnected and post taped). As it was a couple day show I put the hood and trunk up part of the time. Ended up with two awards, one being early B-Body - ahh BUT - there was little competition in my category there though and nice as I think my car is, it's by no means perfect. The way you have your car arranged I'd say should a been perfect for showing - but I'm no judge! Just a guy who enjoyed the WOW experience once. You had to have done great. Love that Dodge!

Ron, I LOVE that car. While in College, I bought for $250 a '64 Sports Fury, 361, 4spd car. One that got away. Grrrr. Anyway, I will try to get the link for the WOW experience and what happened. Bottom line, I did not have the top up and it was covered with the new boot, so I got no points for having a "Convert". The judge told me afterwards that "what we can not see, we can not count". But, it was a good outing and a good experience. Best, Brian

Brain - reading your other post was fun. Man, the picky judges must have skipped brew city WOW when looking at mine. There's a bunch on my car that isn't stock; most of this is mechanicals; but more obvious the wheels and exhaust tips, and modified center console. The color isn't factory, my car was originally white. At near the last minute when visiting the body shop with my brother along, when the car was about ready for paint, he said the white doesn't 'pop' with him should do another color (red is is fav). So after looking at 150 shades of gray (yeah there's a helluva a lot more than 50) I picked a later model mopar gray that's on it. At the WOW, as I was driving in, the "My Car Guy" was there packing up and he came over wanting to do a vid of the car before he left. So I scrambled around to get the car shined up as it got splashed with road crap on the car-carrier and he did the clip.
Anyway, wow (pun intended) the judges viewing your pristine Dodge were like trailer queen sorts reading your posts. Some dust under the carriage? Well ahh, yeah if ya drive it! Glad you & family enjoy it...you have an awesome car.
