I am currently trying to upgrade my roadrunner to have a little more voltage for electric fan, headlight and stereo, I went to a DL75334 which fits a 70 Diplomat and was wondering that since it has a built in VR should I remove my old one and connect the wires direct, any help would be appreciated, YThanks

You don need more voltage but more amperage capability from the alt.

You can get any alt you want as far wiring is correctly made. Get a straight path between alt and ammeter out of the bulkhead ( if the stock wire is still in working order can be still in place, the parallel path will take care of the extra load ) and source the fans from alt post and not the batt.

I can't find any specs about The alt you mentioned DL75334 being internally regulated but a stock replacement.

My suggestion would be get an alt able to feed 55-60 amps at iddle ( the more, the better ) as minimun, these use to be on 100 amps rate as max output.

Don't worry about the amm, will be safe.

This DL75334? Nothing indicates internal regulation. Appears to be a rebuild of a stock ’70 dual isolated field alternator. Would need to convert a ’68 to a ’70 and up electronic regulator to run it or ground one terminal and run your mechanical reg. Not much would be gained in output capacity with that unit.
