Is this the future of our hobby?

I’ve been following his build on YouTube. He’s a pretty talented guy.

If you get past the range anxiety issues, I think it really comes down to whether you want a muscle car or performance car. When he’s done his satellite will outrun any street car and most street/strip classics.

I don’t think it will come to this in my lifetime, but if all the electrification drives gas to $10+ per gallon, I’d absolutely consider swapping to EV. I have this car to drive, spending $1-2 per mile doesn’t sound like fun.

In 10 years range and charging won’t be such a nuisance. Some Tesla models already get nearly 500 miles on a single charge.

Not the hobby, but definitely the future of the cars, fossil fuels eventually will disappear, besides check videos on YouTube some tesla pull harder than a hell cat

That video doesn't help make your point.. the 1 hellcat at the start had the worlds shittiest driver. Then it was an old NA scatpak...

Either way, like us ir not, electric power is the next step in automobile engineering, again like us or not, don't get me wrong, i love the sound of a mopar V8, but let's face it, this is the song of the swamp regarding big V8 engines.

Electric is the unwanted way of the future for sure. Did you see the deal where 50 demon owners ran in the 9s? Im not sure what a "song-of-the-swamp" is, but we're not there yet thankfully.

Supposed to be the last sound when a swan is about to die, a different generation of cars is on the way, wanted by some hated by others, wait a decade so you can count how many e cars are selling vs the gasoline cars, not to mention the environmental regulations to prevent the car companies from selling gas cars, that's my point.

I realize that this is the future. A future that came too soon for me, and I'm not prepared to accept it.
Also HATE that politicians believe that this will cure pollution issues. Nope...we'll just have different ones.

Hard to say... I know its different today but I remember 1974 quite well with NO gas signs and Green and Red flags... Really bad times... And then the cars we had for a decade or so.. .... Still amazed how it turned around with fast cars and big horsepower engines.........

It is the future. But like all endeavors when first attempting? EXPENSIVE. But when grandma's grocery getter whips our hotrod? We'll come around. I remember the the Hotrod crowd of the 40s and 50s hated Muscle cars? Calling them "Factory sellouts" Did I just drop my efforts? Nope. Can't stop progess. And the bottom line? Electric motor's torque curve is superior to gas internal combustion engines. They are coming. And here to stay.

If speed is the end game, then maybe electric will win out eventually. Style, sound, smell, memories, and owning a piece of history are all part of why most of us car guys are in the hobby. Hate to say it, because I respect all car guys, but I’d never own a Suburu WRX even though it would kick my cars ***. To me it sounds and looks like a lawn mower with doors.

Electric cars do nothing for me, and I don’t need limits on how far I can drive before I need to charge up my car. Talk about a conspiracy!

It's also about efficiency. Once Electric can out perform and run more cheaply than diesel in the truck world? It's over. You will not be able to compete. The younger and more efficient crowd will get there faster. Do more work. At a lower cost. Then we can all explain. "But what about the "cool factor?"

I believe there will be a nostalgic and collector car world for decades to come. It's not "One or the other." So we will be just fine.
