Are Summit Racing getting worse ???

Long distance phone calls have gotten allot cheaper.... Back while I was in the Navy stationed on Guam I call a buddy in California... Talked for about 30 minutes... The bill? Back in 1980 it was over $120...
Agreed....I made the mistake of calling on my cellphone....landline is like $4 for an hour.....cheaper than a cup of coffee.

I'd check your billing. I had some brackets on back order, and found a nice used set. Cancelled the order, via email, No Charges placed. Summit does not bill, until they ship the items, is what I've seen...
Checked my billing and bank account again...

Ordered parts on March 2nd
Money for parts & shipping taken from my PayPal on March 3rd.

They got my money alright.

I never order (and certainly don't pay in advance for) anything from any supplier that they don't
specifically have in stock within their inventories.
That sidesteps a ton of possible issues down the road...and yes, that includes Amazon.

That said, Summit has a whole slew of ways to speak with them, probably more than most suppliers:

If phone is an issue (and it always seems to have been with them, monster-sized as they are), I prefer
the "Live Chat" myself. Personal preference...

As an aside, I just fetched the oil and filters for Fred from them very recently and got the order in like
3 days, no worries. Made sure they showed them in stock.
Thanks....I'll try that if it becomes available...

I can't speak for Summit, but it seems like almost all service is getting worse. You have two choices: poor service or no service.

I also have parts on order with them....received my shipping confirmation on 10th March......maybe Amelia Earhart is flying them over to me.....still waiting patiently.
You might be waiting a loooong time :rofl:

maybe they will come via FedEx...Cast Away style....

Funny that this subject comes up now as I was just thinking the same thing. Late last year I was looking for a 5.7 crate Hemi and did a lot of research. Summit has been my "go to" for many years but their pricing was not competitive with Jegs at all so I ordered from there and received it like 45 days later (which they said it would).

Just today I ordered a gantry crane from Jegs because it was offered for $404 but Summit is at $549 both having free shipping but charging truck freight (which still seems odd, free shipping but a there is a freight charge). I realize that Jegs was having a sale but not a $150 sale).

I feel like Summit must have changed leadership who is all about "lean" operations which means no inventory and reduced staff.

The one thing that Summit is great for and the reason i'll always use them is their return policy. I have returned carbs that were run on a dyno ( give them that info also) that were purchased 8 months prior, i have even returned stuff as old as 13 months that i decided to not use and was only dinged 10 percent. I did have to wait for 20 minutes on hold to ask for a shipping return label emailed to me which they did, that saved me some more $. I also feel like i get parts from Summit faster than from Jeg's and Jeg's seems to always not tell you that a part is not currently available until after you order is complete.

Parts backordered... Covid
Wrong part... Covid
Customer Service problems... Covid
Shipping delays... Covid
Emails not returned... Covid
On hold for 20 minutes... Covid
What is corporate America going to do when there is no more Covid. The dog ate your parts?

It's everyone. I bought a cowl repair panel from Kramers in Dec, and found out once paid, that the part would not be in until May. Asked fro a refund of money, and crickets. Last time i buy from them. Summit is still the best service (I may be prejudiced, as I can drive there in about 30 minutes), but they are having a hard time getting parts from overseas suppliers.....
Kramer................... LOL

Been buying from Jegs lately with very good results. Some things in 2 days.

It's not just summit and jegs.
Even the big 3 are playing catch up on parts.
In our body shop we have had trouble for the past year getting late model parts from oem suppliers.
Ford, GM , Chrysler all of them are cross border parts supply.
Mexico , China , have the big share.
Then toss in a little from Canada.
All the parts guys blame covid on the phone , but hell this problem started before covid.

I have never ever had an issue with Summit. Just yesterday I returned an item that I bought 8 months ago and without a receipt. AND they price matched an item that I purchased that Mancini had listed for $11.00 less. I had everything lined up with customer service on a 5 minute phone call prior to showing at their Akron location.

Maybe the customer service problems that some of you are experiencing is due to the fact that they might be short staffed on account of all of the free money that the democrats are handing out resulting in so many people not wanting to work. I know that is a major problem for my company and for everyone I talk to in my field.

Once again a big thanks to everyone who voted the democrats back into power. We will all get exactly what you voted for.

I don't think you have to worry about a time when there is no Covid.

Always been a summit guy, no problems yet. Sure they may be out of stock on some items, really what store isn't? My wife went to 6 furniture stores to look at dining sets, most everything was out of stock on back order. I'm sure when things get back on track they will be back to their quick delivery as usual.

I tried to call into Classic Industries Sat to place an order which included a part from their catalog that would no populate on-line. Two hours+ wait time. Decided to wait until Monday and call in on their opening.
