My car is a 66 satellite with a 71 360 with a 727(floor shift) manual steering and a old style starter. I am presently looking to replace my old dented up, possibly mismatched headers. I was looking at hedman #78050 (which fits a 68 satellite 318) but Summit racing says they won't fit, does anyone know why? This car is a cruiser and will be driven regularly (weather permitting). Any help would be appreciated.

A 66 Plymouth 318 would have been the older Poly style engine with different heads. The LA 318 started in 1967. That's probably why their catalog says they would not fit an original 1966 318. My opinion is that they will work on your car. However, I did a swap once and the headers I used required the 90 degree oil filter adapter. (This was MANY years ago...)

Thanks! it has headers on it now with the normal filter and old starter but they are in sad shape and I have no idea what brand they are.

These are Summit brand cheepies. They went on my 63 Belvedere (I replaced the poly) with a 1970 318.
No problem and no oil filter adapter.
Big Bad Dad hit the nail on the head about the poly engine for 66.

Hooker Super Comp (not comp) fits a SBM without capturing the steering center link.

Of course there's always TTI and Doug's.
