Are Summit Racing getting worse ???

If you pay Summit with a credit or debit card, they don't charge until the part is ready to ship. (In my experience.)

FWIW I placed an online order for shocks with Summit late Friday night and they were on my doorstep Monday. My previous order was a few weeks ago and they included a pretty nice Summit cap which I felt was a nice gesture. Still a lot easier dealing with Summit/Jegs/Mancini than going to the local speed shop and waiting and waiting and waiting only to return later to do it all again.

Between covid, China and reduced manpower to increase profit, everything is a pain in the *** at some point. Our new world, in my opinion.

I had ordered two wheels from Summit back before the first of the year, along with LH lugnuts and RH lugnuts so I could put all four wheels on (already had two). The lug nuts came in just two days. Took the wheels nearly a month! They use a third-party shipper that only ships their stuff, apparently. I was on hold twice for over an hour each. Once I got the wheels, I told the person on the phone that I was disgusted by the lack of customer service and the fact the wheels took a month to go 225 miles, had nothing at all to do with "covid" or the holidays (long past), but it WAS due to lack of detail and attention by Summit. She blamed the shipper they used. Tough ****, was her attitude. They got a "one" in the Satisfaction survey. I was quite wordy stating my displeasure. They likely do not have the education required to understand what I wrote.

IF I ever order from Summit again, I'll order over the phone, and DRIVE to DFW to pick the SOB up myself! Their store is 2-1/2 hours away.

I don't order anything off Amazon. Bezos is an asshole, and Amazon has horrible customer service. PLUS, they must get their drivers from the zoo, as most have the same driving ability as a tuna.

Well, here's my story. I'm trying to gather all the parts I need to build a stroker. I ordered the TFS 240 heads, roller cam, roller lifters, main studs head bolts, timing chain, and some other stuff. I got everything, except the cam, and the heads. The are on back order until mid June. I ordered in March. Cam is due in May. I haven't been charged for anything that hasn't shipped, but its hard to build an engine when I can't get parts. I don't get how they don't have their own parts available (tfs). The rotating assembly is another issue. I have to tear down my engine, and take it to the machine shop to have them tell me what the overbore is so I can order the stroker kit. God knows what I will run into trying to get parts. I have no problem with Summit. I just wish I could get my stuff.

Long distance phone calls have gotten allot cheaper.... Back while I was in the Navy stationed on Guam I call a buddy in California... Talked for about 30 minutes... The bill? Back in 1980 it was over $120...
I remember my Dad chewing out my Mom about the "long distance" bill...

In my case they DID charge me for the full amount, and nothing was leaving their depot until the consignment was all packed together at their end.

My email this morning has a notice of a Refund...at least I got my money back...albeit having to jump up and down about it.

My apologies....but that there was funny.

Maybe I should do more of that instead of just deleting those feedback emails I get. :D

This all is about the other post on FBBO ( Check this ****) about being hired for skin color and NOT ability.... The future does NOT look good

Sorry to hear you're experiencing that **** @kiwigtx

I just ordered some parts from Summit Racing online
last Sun. evening, maybe 8:00pm-ish
I got them today, Tues. AM 10:00am-ish USPS from Reno
plugs, cap, rotor, plug wires for my RR
oil filter & oil for my Dakota

I always order more then $99

it's like that here 99.9% of the time from Summit

I haven't ordered anything from Jegs in over a year
almost always takes a week or more,
seems it always comes from Ohio

-------------------------------------------------------------------

I've never had an issue getting them (S.R.) on the phone
I rarely deal with any issues thru e-mail,
maybe it get lost in the shuffle, I wouldn't know
just seems impersonal to do too much of the e-mail stuff
I want to talk to someone
I always talk to a customer service rep.
in person on the phone
I haven't had good luck with the chat stuff either
maybe my questions, usually tech stuff,
are above some of their paygrades I assume
I get referred to the parts suppliers a lot, for tech stuff
I have no problem with that either

every time I've had an issue, they've made it good
a couple of times they said;
"don't even ship the wrong part back"
customer service guy said;
"new correct parts are on their way, at no charge"
(like I need the wrong part, BUT; it cost them more for shipping I assume)
last time it was phenolic spacers
I wanted 3, 1" for 2bbl for 2300 Holleys 6bbl,
along with some AN fitting & hose
I accidentally ordered 3 for Strombergs like $30 each,
doh !!!
new 2300 Spacers were like $49 ea., a difference of like $57
Strombergs are totally different bolt patterns etc.
& It was 100% my fault too
All the AN & hose stuff was correct, a $300+ order,
but they made it good
I was pleasantly surprised
& they were at my house in like 4 days,
they came from Tex. instead of Reno
that's customer service,
& a huge part of why, I'm loyal to them...

it's happened a few times,
they usually give me a shipping # (or sticker) to ship stuff back too
sometimes they are in the box with the new parts
or in the box with the org. ordered parts

--------------------------------------------------------------------

I have noticed the site is getting a bit different to navigate
but aside from that, I'm 100% satisfied with them
even on the billing end, they made an overcharge once
& made it good, I caught it like a month later,
& they didn't hesitate to make it good, a credit on my CC account

---------------------------------------------------------------------

I've had an open account with Summit Racing since like 1985-ish
most the stuff I buy is from S.R., some stuff they just don't have
or I'd have to wait for it too long (rare)
If so, I buy from somewhere else, I try to buy locally 1st if I can
some stuff I just buy at the local Napa/Debco

That being my experience, others may vary

I have never ever had an issue with Summit. Just yesterday I returned an item that I bought 8 months ago and without a receipt. AND they price matched an item that I purchased that Mancini had listed for $11.00 less. I had everything lined up with customer service on a 5 minute phone call prior to showing at their Akron location.

Maybe the customer service problems that some of you are experiencing is due to the fact that they might be short staffed on account of all of the free money that the democrats are handing out resulting in so many people not wanting to work. I know that is a major problem for my company and for everyone I talk to in my field.

Once again a big thanks to everyone who voted the democrats back into power. We will all get exactly what you voted for.

All the free money is screwing things around to the max. I have a 74 Charger at the shop, for new wiring. Told them to just work on it when they get the time, and serve the people who have a need for their daily drivers (I have a handful of other Mopars to work on)_.
They are so overworked from people with money to burn that they have made very sporadic progress on my Charger (again O.K. - one less car in the driveway). Says they are overwhelmed with people in Democrat-heavy Barberton dropping off their cars, without concern for price, as they have federal cash to burn.
What a world ?!!!!!.....

I don't think it's just the free money, that only goes so far.
A lot of people aren't spending like they used to on eating out, travel, recreation.

I think some folks do not understand how the federal stimulus is designed to work.
The general idea was tax payers get some of their own tax $ back and then they spend that returned tax money at their local repair shop., body shop , gun shop , summit , napa , ect ect.
I am doing my best here to keep this non political as I see others trying to inject that BS into this thread.

I just sent an email to Summit Racing after being on HOLD for over 20 minutes....."Due to Covid-19 we are taking a huge volume of calls...blah blah blah..."

I have never had problems with them before. Ordered a set of wire holding brackets to make the ignition leads a bit tidier in my A100....and some replacement centre cap screws for the wheels. Initial time frame for 'special order' item brackets (I wanted red ones) was 6 April at Summit, and shipping after that. The deadline arrived, and went...then 5 days later I see an update to say now it's around mid May. I cancelled the order immediately. I'm not taking chances on them doing that delay BS again.

I'll order a set of black wire holders instead. Trouble is I was on HOLD to see where the Credit is going to appear. It has been nearly a week with no mention of anything from them.
The email said it might take up to 4 days or more to reply to my email.

Maybe I should just put in a PayPal claim against them...might make them sit up. :mob:

Anyone else have any better ideas? I don't want to place another order without the first being settled. BTW...I have been buying from them for a long time.
I love Summit, never had any issues but they are doing a real lousy job of dealing with the Covid and with no excuse! I live in Ohio where their main warehouse is and things are very relaxed here, no reason for the B.S. I've only ordered a few things since the Covid but wasn't impressed.

Though I have had good dealings with Summit, a few recent ones have "mirrored," others complaints.
I ordered a set of Edelbrock RPM heads from Summit (yes, the Edelbrock core shift is every bit as bad as reported). The first set arrived, one was obviously a customer return, NOT in Edelbrock box, no protective foam on top. It had been dropped on the valves often enough that the retainers had broken through the cardboard. So, I immediately requested an exchange on thst one.
The other head was in the Edelbrock box, but had clear packing tape over the original tape. Upon inspection, this head had been handled as well, and probably returned due to excessive core shift. I requested an exchange for this one as well.
Both returns were handled quickly, replacements were shipped immediately and without questions.
But, realistically, being fairly obvious customer returns, neither should have been shipped to me in the first place.
In the interim, I found out that 440source.com had one set of flat tappet TF 240's left. I bought those, and returned the Edelbrock's.
Summit refunded all of my money without a problem. So take from it what you will. I will continue to do business with them, but have received one other item that appeared to be a customer return/open box as well.
At this point, I'm actually a lot more disappointed in Edelbrock's Q/C, (or lack thereof), than I am with Summit's business practices.

Sounds like Summit should stop selling them until they get their act together.
Summit and ALL suppliers should stop the practise of sending out items which have been returned from other customers, without proper examination, and correct packaging.

By the way, they're a couple of hemi b bodies in the window, like to give me a major woodie.

yep send them back to the org. suppliers
& have them checked over &/or repacked properly at a min.

unless maybe (?) they are returned unopened

unless the box is damaged, from shipping etc.
then do what I said above too

Ageed, I can't figure that aspect at all. Why they don't return them to the manufacturer is beyond me. They will be credited for them, AND the manufacturer would (maybe) get the hint?.....Yeah, probably not.:(
Anymore, the Q/C thing seems to be a manufacturer thing, regardless of product.
I've looked up reviews on appliances, TV's, power tools, etc. It doesn't seem like anything has a better than 15% failure rating. They just build it, ship it, let the customer sort it out.
