Hey Guys,

Well I went ahead and ordered the TTI exhaust to go with my TTI Headers. It was a lot of money, I decided to spend it because of their good reputation for everything going together correctly. I ordered it with the dynomax ultra flows which requires a modification to make them longer, which they did. But, they made them too long and now they don't fit! Now I have to cut the front part of the exhaust so they fit. I know...I know, it may not be a big deal but I paid a premium for a reason and I should not have to do it. If I call them I will probably have to pay for them to get sent back or they will just say cut them! OK, I'm off my soapbox!

Yeah, I know its no big deal, I'm just gripping I had to pay over $1000. I'm not to good with a sawzall so I don't want to make a mistake and ruin it.

I just installed 3" TTI exhaust on my 66 coronet. Also used there headers. I had issues with the exhaust at the rear hitting the fuel tank where it goes over the axle. I called them and got a tech guy who said I had to start at the rear and work to the front so I removed it and started again. Needless to say I had to cut 3/4" off each tailpipe where it slides in the muffler, and 3/4" off each side of the X pipe where the muffler slide on. Basically taking 1.5" off the overall length per side to keep them off the fuel tank, and that is with trying to bend those flaps on the fuel tank up as well. Also had to weld an inch or so to each rear tailpipe hanger so I had the length to slide them through the hangers at the rear for the rear. I pent a week in the afternoons installing these pipes and can say with out a doubt without those mods this 3" kit would not have fit my car, with the AMD fuel tank. I also pulled the pipes apart wider at the rear because I felt the passenger side was closer to the drive shaft than the drivers side. It would have worked but i wanted more of a symmetrical look to them. Its a nice set of pipes, but for basically $800.00 and the weeks worth of afternoon work it was less than I expected. At the end of the day with parts made today it seems that is more the normal to have to overhaul everything. I also didn't like the fact that when you call they make it out like your crazy. Forgot one other thing, one of the mufflers had a loose pipe that came out of it, where it clamps. I had to tach weld that too.

Just installed tti headers and 2.5” exhaust with the 17748 mufflers on a 69 road runner and had zero issues or cuts. The passenger side tail pipe sticks out about 1/4-3/8” further beyond the bumper than the drivers side. Easy fix..

As mattsmopars said and tti directions say start from the back. When you get x/ h pipe you'll cut it to the correct length. If you mufflers are to far forward cut off some of tail pipe but check that you don't cut to much.

I used the TTI 2" headers and their 3" exh system with an X-pipe for my 63 Sport Fury. I ordered the system with no mufflers and went and bought a set of Dyno-Max Ultra-Flows. I installed the system in my driveway and everything fit fine. Course even if I had to trim or cut a pipe a bit here or there it would have been no big deal for me. But hopefully you got everything to fit good for you. Best of luck with it. Ron

Uhhh...
You spent whuuuut?
Holeee crap. I've never heard of anyone paying that much for anything that wasn't polished stainless steel for a show car.
I also have enough experience with these cars to know that MANY things you buy need some work to fit and function properly.
You are fortunate that the pipes were LONGER than they needed to be.
What if they were TOO short? What then?

I have a full 2-1/2" system with beautifully welded stainless pipes from the headers to the tips. I took my A100 to a Muffler Shop to have it done, and the guy who did it learnt his welding trade at a Dairy Factory, where everything is stainless pipe. Excellent job, and a good look...cost me NZ$1700 including all the pipe fittings & glasspak mufflers (US$1,000) ....all I supplied was the headers & Charger tips & brackets for the rear. I was happy to pay that as I could not have done it myself. There is also a set of electric cut-outs in there without diverters...I supplied the cut-outs also.

Yes....the mufflers are longer than the driveshaft.

Better too long than too short. I had to do a little trimming on my 67 GTX system. I think it’s a wise move on tti’s part to be sure they can be adjusted for the best fit.
