Idiots giving our Hobby a bad Rap!

My Viper will do that on command all day long and when it gets squirrely it is exceptionally difficult to get it back. I have learned over the years how to drive it and stay in one lane but that car wants to kill you as soon as you get it started and thats with 450 HP, 707 is just asking for pain.

Actually its simple. Dont drive like an idiot on the street. I dont street race my 63 or do stupid things with it on the street. I just like to cruise around nice and easy on the street. I go to the track when I want to drive it like a mad man. And I get to see just how fast it is as thats what tracks are for. Ron

These kids now-a-days write a check and instantly jump in 800hp cars, without experience or any idea how much power that really is. They assume if its for sale to anybody then anybody can drive it. I owned a gen 2 Viper for a few years, she was a beast on the street, you had to know what your doing to keep her between the ditches. I rip around in a 69 Coronet with a 900hp blown 440 4-speed, no traction to speak of, drum brakes on all 4's, yep it can flip a few silverado's, lol. Those of us that grew up souping up 60's and 70's muscle cars know and understand what it takes to make real horse power and learned how to respect it and keep it under control the hard way, no safety ****. It would not be a bad idea if inexperienced people buying these new high hp cars take a performance driving class.

That had panic and stupidity written all over it! How long did he stay on the gas in order to roll a truck over? There's a lot of people who shouldn't be aloud to own these cars.

lol - dudes like Tiger Woods have enough of a challenge to keep an SUV on the road. 1st Q: T or F - The accelerator pedal is on the right? 2nd: T or F - If the posted speed limit is 45MPH it is acceptable to go 85MPH cuz you're in a hurry? 3rd Q: When approaching a curve in the road going 40+MPH over the speed limit you should- (a) brake (b) floor the accelerator pedal (c) scream "oh ****' and crash (d) all of the above?

If he wanted to drive around that curve doing 87mph, he should have been driving a
Porsche or Lambo! An SUV? No way. It's all about choices.

When Paul is in charge, there will be a class system for drivers license. Let's just say that traffic will be reduced by about 80%.

just wait till the vaccine is a requirement for renewing your license

I was just telling my son yesterday, that as soon as you submit to licensing, (re guns) the govt can take that license away.

Driving is a PRIVILEGE, NOT a right..... My personal observation is that appx. 40% of the people driving should be allowed a bus pass only....

When you buy a new Viper (back when they made them) you got an invitation to the Viper driving experience where they taught you how to drive the car. I think the big 3 have missed a revenue source with the big HP cars; they could have sponsored driving events for them and "maybe" actually taught someone how to control and handle the HP.

The statement that 40% of drivers on the road should be on a bus is generous, I think it should probably be much higher based on what I see on the road frequently.

I love Torque Steer. Roast, steer, all day long in the Coronet. Never ever lost control. These modern cars are just scary. I don’t floor the Hellcat unless already rolling about 30 mph with NOTHING around.
Even then is thrilling.

That car is not even on my radar, it really isn’t part of what the hobby is to me. As awesome as the car is, the cool factor just pales in comparison to old school iron, especially the top dogs of the day. I don’t care how overpowered something is, it’s a waste of power to have it on the street. What’s left is the cool factor, which that car will have in its time, just too many of em out there today to trump an old school car.....to me anyway!

My 2011 Camaro has 100 more hp than a Hellcat and cured the squirrely crap with a set of new drag radials. Smoke shows are stupid

897 hp Cameros. Very common in these parts.

True, but we are talking twice the power to the rear wheels with the new ones....
that's a whole 'nother world.
Tires that were 50% skinnier back in the 60's and with 50% less power gave the same effect though lol

What a great move - put your arm out to try to stop the tip-over. Good definition of dumb & dumber...
Reminds me of a forklift operator who was going too fast around a corner and was slamming into a wall...well he stuck his foot out to try to stop the 5,000lb lift from hitting the wall...not a pretty outcome. My goof since I had trained the guy on forklift operation...despite instruction never to put any part of your body, you would like to keep, outside the cab! Well, added another piece of driver 'instruction' to the training after this...

Of course we learn parallel parking, but vertical parking is a new one.
I guess you can fit more cars in the garage that way.

This was at my home track, I wasn’t there at that time but a friend of mine was on the scene as part of the safety crew. After the guy hits, he tried to back up and continue down the track! They had to physically get in the way to stop him.
I don’t know the driver, but I imagine that it went down like this:

1) make lots of money.
2) go to GM dealer get dream car, pay cash.
3) go to track and hold pedal to floor- only cowards lift.
4) mistake financial success for skill, knowledge and ability.

I think there is something to be said for growing into a car’s power gradually- nowadays any idiot with a fat wallet can buy something far beyond his ability.
