I would actually put my 440 right at the top in this ranking :D

Wouldn't listen to what anyone best it's to subjective. Unless they agree with me!

An old school mid-late 60's muscle car
with a good camshaft & exhaust system
I like better, or hands down over 99% of the newer stuff

like solid lifter Hemi or Max Wedge
or something like a 65 425hp 396 or even an L88 (I know brand X)
even the lil' 340 wedge or 327/350hp L79 or a 427 side-olier in a Cobra
all had great exhaust tones
Places like
Mr. Norm & Baldwin Motion (etc.) capitalized bigtime on it too

you feel it in your chest almost

even most of the newer stuff with 600-700+ hp
just doesn't have the sound of the past
even when they will run circles around our old (OE) stuff

BUT:

even something as simple as after installing an EFI,
tones the
'bucket T bucket T bucket T bucket T bucket T'
valve overlap & exhaust notes/sound down too much

even if new stuff has far more power per/cid, far more tech.
sound far more docile

IMO;
It just doesn't have the same sound or passion when I hear it

Found her in a barn in Tennessee, paid $5 bucks for bucket T. Took 3 years of sweat and blood......

I did like the Demon blower whine, but the exhaust note was muted

Standing next to a nascar stock car when it was started. Smile provoking.

As a senior citizen, driving my 2010 SRT Challenger I love the quietness. My 71 Cuda with the Gen2 Hemi makes so much noise I can't wait to get it in 5th gear to quiet it down. You don't have to have noise to have get up and go.

All new cars sound like a coffee can with a big rock in it getting tumbled.
Most favorite noise 318 with headers and glass packs
