Finally a car show

We headed out this morning to take in our first car show / swap meet in almost 2 years .
We even met a great couple who also also had an all original poly head 318 . it was nice to finally be around rusty oily used pieces of American iron . Nice to see so many smiles

I've never raced against one, although a guy in high school had a 302 Maverick and always goaded me about being faster than my 440 4bbl 70 Charger R/T.
I have come to appreciate the potential of a light car like a Maverick and the way a 9" Ford rear axle is an easy fit, with a 347 stroker small block Ford, I'm sure there are some that are squared away and a real challenge in a drag race.
 
While a senior in high school , I had the privilege of owning a ‘72 GTO and a ‘70 Charger . An older friend had a ‘72(?) Mercury Capri with a German built v6 . He could easily out corner me . I became painfully aware of the relationship of power to weight because of his car
