Where is Your Vehicle on the Value Scale?

Hard to put a value from auction/sales since I've only seen 4 others sold or highest bid unsold. Two 4 speeds and two auto trans. The 2 4 speed cars were sold in the last 3 or 4 years, black with gold interior $214,500 with fees The 2nd one red with black interior and white top $132.500 with fees. Really nice cars. The autos a green one black interior and top in 2006/7 bid to $99,000 no sale. In 1988 a number 3 condition/ survivor red black top/interior sold for $80,000. Mines a 3 condition driver.

Kids will sell it. Don’t care if it’s worth $1. Wear it out. It’s about the drive. The thrill. The fear.

68 RR RM23 HT
says 15,156 produced 383 4bbl 335hp
29,240 Post Coupes

rating/value/condition
----------------------------
#1 $63,100 - concourse
#2 $44,300 - exelent
#3 $30,600 - good
#4 $19,800 - fair

add another 10% value for a 4 speed
mines a A727tf

not sure what they think
I think the #1 $63k is too high
& the #3 $30k is too low

I'd consider mine a solid #3+ maybe#2-

you can't really choose the options much
on their site
Base or Hemi is about it, on mine

doesn't matter I'm not selling it
I bought it for $6,000 running & driving
in 2005 $$'s
It was a running driving 68 RM23 HT Decore Int. 383cid 4bbl/TF 727
60k+ miles

by their # scale it was like a #7 just a beater,
if a #4 is fair
the Decore Black interior was great, near perfect
it was all there, all the grill, trim etc.
but;
road hard & put away wet for its lifetime
it came with some original & extra parts
I'll never use, like the org. starter, org. carb, org. radio, etc.
rusty org. 14" Chrome Road Wheels

I have probably $25k+ total in it now,
$7k+ or so in the engine, built twice
whole engine compartment, alum heads, alum. rad. & water-pump
fans, electric pump, fuels stuff, tank & sending unit
$750 wasted on an Edel. RPM & Holley 770cfm
I sold to a guy on MoPar Muscle years ago
changed my mind to use my old 6bbl, of my other RR
probably $2,000+ in carbs & air-cleaner
another $1,500+ in the trans., it was rock solid
have a new converter & valve-body,
deep pan, u-joints, yoke etc.
another $2,500+ in wheels tires
$2,000+ in paint & body stuff, garage paint job 2 times,
ultra-flat black & back to the org. LL1 Surf Turquoise Metalic
over 12+ years
$1,000+ on the lift-off hood, lanyards & pins
another $1,500+ in exhaust components, 2 times
a **** load $2,100 of suspension parts, some installed
some stuff I'm reluctant to install, cars working well now
$1,000 for a Uni-steer rack & pinion
$700 in shocks & sway bars
another $1,000 in nuts bolts or stainless hardware
maybe another $1,000 in wiring/electronics etc.
misc. chrome **** in the interior, handles, cranks, door sills etc.
I'm sure there's another $1,000 misc. BS in there somewhere too
lil' lights, markers, brake lenses, turn-signal lenses, stickers etc.

more because I changed my mind on build style/path
took stuff off & bought different stuff,
I rarely sell anything I take off

I wasted probably a couple of grand,
buying new stuff
all because, I changed my mind, was org. doing/going back to org./stock
& I changed my mind mid path/build, to go Resto-Mod instead

I had just sold another 68 RR street-beast/racecar with plates

Now;
If I could double my investment I'd consider selling it
or trading it for a comparable
67-68 Barracuda Formula S 383 4 speed
or a comparable
68-69 GTS 383 4 speed, pref. convertible

otherwise,
I'll probably give it or will it to my nephew,
he's shown interest
when I'm too old & too feeble to use it or enjoy it anymore

It all comes down to what someone wants to pay, I probably paid to much for my Coronet and don't really care. It's what I wanted and I have no regrets. Regrets are what I would have had if I didn't buy it!

I got six of mine covered for 25k each, and the V code Charger R/T is covered for 50k. They will raise that one to 100k when it is done.

I have my 70 V Code Track Pack insured with Haggerty, they set the value at $94,000. They said if I would give it new paint they would raise it to $140,000 but I like it the way it is original survivor look.....

I have to say, you can't really trust the insurers, the corporatists to determine value. Hey-O is correct. What will the person pay if they want your car. Haggerty will only max out to $ 65,000.00 on my Coronet R/T convertible. (Their analytics) Otherwise, they ( me) would have to go through hoops, and make a deal to up the agreed amount, IF, we can make a deal. ( remember, insurance is a gamble). Last time I re- upped, I wanted a higher value. Not so fast according to them. And, I was willing to pay. Google 1970 Coronet R/T convertible, Torino's and mine pop first. We have been offered well over 100 k for the car, and, if we sell it to the middle east, 150k in our bank account tomorrow. Not bragging,by any stretch, just reality. "So what is the value"

I just TOLD Hagerty what I wanted for agreed value and they agreed to take my premium payment !
Fascinating- was it a young woman from Australia that you were working with? May be a gamble whom takes, gets the call. Not all agents/ reps are equal I have learned.

All online, no questions asked, just give us your money... $175K on my Bird, $125K on my Bee and $55K on my Dart.

Ah hah, thanks for the tip. I shall try that. Perhaps the human is not the best way to go. I always had the nagging feeling that I didn't have enough coverage. Plus, I will be bringing the Cuda on shortly, so I will give shot. a shot. Thanks , Mark

Don't care, it's not for sale and I love it!

Buddy of mine just went through this with Hagerty... He has a 69 Coronet R/T 440 4spd N96 car, low miles, he's the second owner... He's been with American Collector for years but decided he wanted to move to Hagerty... They were willing to give him more insurance than he wanted on most of his cars but for some reason they would only insure his Coronet for 25K... Yet their valuation tool shows it as worth 35,400 with no adds for mileage/condition 4spd or N96... He tried to argue the point & got no where... He stuck with American Collector & put the agreed value at 55K...

I don't care what anyone says or thinks mine is worth.
It is priceless to me.
When I'm dead I won't care.
