My wife wants to use her 65 Belvedere wagon for the beach. Do they still make the formed factory style rubber floor mats? I have the original in my 65 Dodge Coronet. It would be a lot easier to clean beach sand off rather than trying to vacuum carpet.

My 65 Sedan has the vinyl floor also. I'm going to try and get it out intact, when I start the floor repairs. Hoping the 56 year old material doesn't shatter, as I'd like to re-use it...

Do you know if they still make them?

ACC makes the rubber / vinyl mats to what your seeking. I have sold a couple for the 68 and 69 Road Runners. The originals had a texture to them along with a "speckled" color to the earlier style mats. The ones that ACC makes now are more of a smoother material and they are solid black. They do fit well, but requires more effort to install them. Price wise, they are pretty equivalent to what the carpet mat goes for.

Do you have a link? I'd like to see it.

@Timmayy, the rubber mats are not to my knowledge listed on the ACC website. You can just contact ACC and ask them for a small sample. I know that they will send out like a 1 inch square of carpet samples. Just imagine a trunk mat molded to the profile of the floor pan. The shoddy padding is attached to the rubber mat as well for sound and temperature shielding.

I guess I got confused when I posted earlier. Is the OP looking for rubber floor mats or rubber floor covering? Mats go over the carpet to keep from damaging it.

Floor covering.

On a recent episode of "Junkyard Gold", Steve Magnante said they aren't reproduced. He was showing one in a 340 Duster if I remember right. I'd be interested in seeing what the reproductions look like.

I talked to a couple well known carpet vendors/manufacturers at Don Garlits' a couple of years ago.

NONE of them knew what I was talking about.

I had to explain to everyone of them that some low line cars were built without carpet and that I was NOT referring to floor mats that sat on top of the factory carpet.

They didn't even understand when I described a taxi interior.

That was not a confidence inspiring set of conversations.

ACC has always done the rubber mats. The process is the same as molding a carpet mat other than the carpet material is replaced with a sheet of rubber. Due to the limited demand, the items are nonreturnable and they are not listed on the website. My ACC rep is a Mopar person owning over 10 Mopars and the ACC Vice President of Sales is a Mopar person as well, so it helps to have people who are in tune with the Mopar world working behind the scenes.

I just spoke to my ACC sales associate and she is sending me samples of the four colors available, black, blue, beige and gray. She said that the material has a small but distinct pebble grain texture to it.

Once the swatches arrive, I will post a picture of the sample material. The floor covering is left long on the sides and top so that you will have to trim them along the sill plate pinch weld and the firewall seam. Also, due to the stiffness of the vinyl/rubber, extra effort is required to assist the material to conform to the floor pan. You can use a heat gun to to warm the material and push into position and then take a hand towel submersed in ice water to "quench" the material into the desired position.

Great. Let us know when you get the samples. Do you know around what price they would be?

I recently installed an ACC rubber floor covering instead of carpet in my '94 F-150. Nice product, although I needed more backing material that what is provided. They can be a bit of a challenge to get installed correctly as opposed to carpet though. Slightly different techniques.

Here are the color samples that my ACC rep go to me. The colors available are black, blue, gray and beige. The material has a definite texture to it that I hope shows up in the pictures. I understand that we all see colors in different shades, so hopefully my pictures will give you a reference. I will have the samples available at Carlisle for anyone who might be interested.

I would be interested in the beige floor mat for a 65 Belvedere 4-door. How much with padding?

@onlyone, is that one of the ACC rubber mats installed in your Charger? I am thinking that the current rubber mats do not feature the molded in heel pad as shown in the picture that @GOLDMYN posted. The condition of the mat that @GOLDMYN posted is really nice!!!
