67 Charger Getting Started Again

Another welcome from Oz. When you said you restored it 28 years ago, did you buy it as a project or was it already in the family? Looks really nice, but would like to know some history.
Glenn

I found it in Hemmings. I bought it from a guy in New Mexico. He told me the car spent its entire life there. There are University of New Mexico parking stickers on the back window and the black carpet throughout was extremely sun faded so I think it probably did spend a lot of time in the southwestern states. Communications wasn’t what it is today. The guy sent me a VHS tape of him doing a walk around starting the car, etc. based on that and talking to him on the phone, I bought it and had it shipped to me in NJ. I’m pretty sure I still have the tape somewhere. I kept her for a year or two in the condition I got her before doing anything. I disassembled her completely inside and out. Took the 383 2 barrel to a speed shop. Bored .030 over, forged pistons, mopar Performance cam, nothing crazy. Found a 68 or 69 stock 4 barrel intake. Speed shop owner also rebuilt the heads and set it up with a Holley carb. Had the transmission rebuilt. Trailered her to the body shop and the stripped and repainted her in the same color. I put everything back together. Put new carpet in from Legendary. About 2 years later she went in the garage. Changed garages a few times. Always by flatbed because the first time I tried driving her to a new location I almost rolled down a hill into a busy street because the brakes weren’t working. That’s Goldie’s story. Now, I have to figure out where to start to get her back on the road. Brakes are definitely high on the list. I’m sure everything will need to be flushed. I’m guessing the carb will need work. I put Stabil in the tank before I parked her but that was so long ago. I need to take a look in the tank to see what’s going on in there. Gonna be fun!

Welcome, these cars look good in gold, and especially the gold interior.
Thank you! Dug up a few interior pics. Gold seats, upper door panels and rear console pad. Black carpet.

If it’s been stored in the garage all this time, i think a real good going over of the mechanicals, and it should be on the road before you know it. Hopefully the tank only needs draining and a good flush, and everything else the same. I’ve only seen one of these in the flesh and i was surprised with how much room there is in the back when the seats are down. Very cool ride.

Ron, just an FYI you don't need to reply to every comment.
Just press the little yellow guy in the lower right hand corner.
Thanks for the updates.
