My ‘71 RR has stainless trim along the top of the door and along the bottom of the quarter window opening. It appears to be retained with the same plastic slides that are used on the canopy vinyl trim....but don’t seem to be as easily removed/installed.

Has anyone dealt with these?

Look at the jambs for possible clip nuts. If none are present or you removed them than with a plastic trim tool you can lift them up and out,

Remove the nut and you should be able to lift the trim enough to get a plastic trim tool or wood dowel under it to sharply tap the next clip over the detent and into the release hole.

It's helpful to know which way to tap!

You will likely still break some or most of the clips, and they will likely be brittle.

Jeff (521Restorations?) has all sorts of new clips. I'd check to see if those are available.
He even accelerated a run of the clips I needed!
Looks like they might actually be the same clips.

This is what I had to do with the side molding on my 73.

Good input. Thank you. I didn’t think about sliding under and tapping the clips. I’ll give it a try.

I ordered a 20 pack of those clips from 521 yesterday!

How about reinstalling? Have you done that yet?

I put the clips on the car first (and made a note of the orientation- if backwards they will be a bear to get off next time), then hung the trim on the tops of the clips (engaging the tangs) and gave a sharp smack to the trim with the palm of my hand, directly over the clip with a slight downward motion (which may not apply to you).

That’s about the only way I see it going back on with scratching paint...thanks!
