69 RR Trunk Gutter #'s

Ok guys, so I have been doing some documenting of my 69 Roadrunner and found the trunk gutter numbers. They are not the same as the last digits of the VIN, should they be? They are close, but not the same.

VIN: Fully confirmed original last digits: 239105
Plate: 239105
Trunk gutter: (best to my ability to read from underneath) 2841901

Check out the pics they are pretty clear. First pic is from the top and the bottom is from underneath.

Does this mean the gutter was replaced or something else. Just curious.

I think 69 they started stamping the last digits of the vin, 68 was the shipping order number. It could have been replaced with a OEM piece from a donor car. I could be wrong but I'm sure I'll be corrected if I am. This place has a lot of knowledgeable guys that will set the record straight.

You found a part #, not the VIN stamp...

I was just typing that when I saw your post.......did the same on my 68 Runner when I was looking. Ended up being the P/N for the quarter I believe.

And on my 68, the assembly plant was not stamped at all on the trunk gutter rail and super super light on the core support so the stamper musta been set light that day.......Quality control in 68 was like the Covid toilet paper aisle is in Walmart in 2020 ha!

Drivers side.. my SBird was so light I had to sand the paint off. No detent underneath even..
