Am i crazy (Driving 69 Satellite from Kentucky to Oregon)?

Speaking of that, there is one very weak link if that engine has never been opened up.

if it has the original timing gears/chain, the cam gear is coated in nylon.

do not push that engine if it could still have that

if the timing set has been replaced then it doesn’t and it’s not a concern

The nylon teeth break off and the chain can jump, and destroy the valves and pistons.

it’s what took mine off the road in the early 90s

Got lucky though and just had some nicked pistons

I have seen the broken off vinyl teeth ( on many SBC) plug up the oil screen/feed also......

Yeah it wasn’t meant to be a dig on 318s, the big blocks have/had it too; didn’t know/remember SBC also had it

not nearly as bad as a timing belt on an interference engine, there are tons of those...

Just can bite you in the *** if it’s not on the radar

this 383 has 200k on the original nylon coated gear; the chain is all kinds of loose

go to 37 minutes into the video to see it:

Thanks! I would love to do something like Carlyle and maybe caravan with a couple other Mopar guys from the west coast. That would be a real trip! The people here really are great and so helpful.

Benn wanting to do that for years. Had a 73 wagon I was fixing up for that purpose. Still want to do a long road trip in the near future.

I was surprised you didn’t detour through Reno and pickup some wheels at Summit for that thing

I have put almost 40,000 miles on this 69 Coronet 440 4 dr. sedan. 318, auto, 8-3/4 , 291 sure grip. ( I added) and my aftermarket 2-5/8 Sun gauges, and Superior steering wheel. I have had these parts on all the drivers I have had since high school. bought it with 70,000 miles. I did go thru it and replace the gas tank, carpet, headliner, all the rubber hoses. put 11" drum brakes on. ft. anti sway bar wiper motor, been on the Power tour many times. ran prefect. and all original. including the points dist. We put 4000 miles the first week out on the power tour long haul. 2008 I think. and the AM radio W/ FM converter, works but the speaker lasted Meer hours. and No radio for the rest of the trip. LOL!! I have added 15" painted wheels, stripe and scoops. It's my Summer daily driver. has been since 2009. drove it to MCCaan in 2014. and hit over 20" of snow. first time this car has been in snow at lease since 1980. as that was the last time it was registered. came from ND.

We made it! Over 2000 miles. It’s been awesome having all of you follow along! I’ll post some pictures tomorrow of the car in her new home and answer any questions plus reply to posts I didn’t get a chance to earlier. Thank you all so much for coming along on the journey and for all the advice and help! My eyes can’t stay open any longer so I’m off to bed. Good night!
Was just wondering how your doing.
