The 67 has finally made it to the paint booth!

The shop picked up the stencil for the Birthday Stripes...

Stopped by the shop this morning... They were masking up the chassis, getting ready to paint some white on the top surfaces. They will also be drilling the holes for the rocker molding clips today.

They painted the pearl white on the top surfaces of the chassis this morning. No clear coats yet though... They have to get the side panels and birthday stripe painted next.
I'll be heading over first thing tomorrow morning for that stuff.

Quite a lot accomplished today...
They painted the Gold yesterday after I left, so this morning we laid out the stencil for the custom Birthday Stripe, mask it off and painted it.
The gal who will be doing the pinstripe work on the car was there this morning too.
She will be hand painting the two pinstripes that separate the gold side panels from the pearl white above. She will also be doing the pinstripe work on the hood and the deck lid.
They were suppose to clear coat the car after I left this morning, then it would be her turn to paint the two pinstripes running the length of the side panels, followed by more clear.

Unfortunately, I won't see the car tomorrow because I'll be heading north in the AM for a surprise home visit.
I'll be back on it again first thing Tuesday morning though.

One shot of Kris, the lady pinstriper, goofing around at the bottom... Ha,Ha

We have a quick shot of some clear coat on there now... No cut & buff yet obviously, still not done yet.

Now it's time for Kris to come in and do her thing. It was actually easier to have her come in and paint the pinstripes on the side panels by hand, as opposed to masking, due to the final curves and shapes at each end.

Progress... still have a lot of paint work ahead, but were definitely getting closer to that light at the end of the tunnel now.

Here's a few quick pics that Brian sent over to me here at work this evening.

Thanx Ian!
Just a few more cell phone pics from Thursday that were taken by one of the other guys at the shop.

Pulled the chassis out of the shop this morning... a little sun, a little shade.

All of the pinstripe work is complete now, front to back, top to bottom, so now it's off to the booth again for the final 3 or 4 coats of clear to bury it all... Cut & Buff and we're done... More pics to follow.

Were the drip rails taped off? If not, I'd tape them off for the final coats of clear. Too much build up on the rails makes installing trim more difficult.

Also, lesson learned (and you might already know all of this), trial fit all the trim around the windows before installing the glass.

I'm a sucker for white and gold paint jobs but i gotta say that combo and the stripe lay out look perfect. Nice job.

Glad you brought that up... Thanks! It's been so long since I've had to think about that stuff. Just happy to see it getting done at this point.

Thanks Brother! I can't wait to see it all done, especially with all that shiny Chrome back on to complete the look.

I'll just add this one image of the deck lid detail for now. This shot was taken right after the pinstripe work was done. The pearl pinstripe work was applied directly over the initial clear coats (after scuffing of course), so once it all gets cleared over again and buffed up, it should look pretty sharp... at least to me anyway.
