I have a 69 Charger R/T. I do not have a fender tag. I know these can be reproduced but, where do I find build date of car. build sheet (which I have) dose not have that info. from 71 and older if i'm not wrong. car was built in Hamtramck,MI. in 68. Eng. build date is 10-14. are there other parts add toward end of production ( with a short shelf life)that i can narrow it down with. I have sent e-mail to GTS but have not gotten a response.(4-months ago)

The scheduled production date will be on the broadcast sheet. The first three digits of the vehicle order number.

Post a large readable picture of your buildsheet, think it's on there. Someone chime in about what pat of BS has the info.

i have the brake down book(mopar broadcast sheet decoder manual by Jake hare). and from what i can see its not on the sheet. thats where i got info. that 71' and older don't have it but 72' and newer dose have it.

sorry R/T didn't see your post.but , it dose not work out. the vehicle order number has two boxes first box is A15 second box is 056725. if what your saying is correct the 056 would be may 6 . my car was built in Hamtramck which closed dec. 31 68. unless the "A" in A15 stands for a month.

A15 would be 10-15 I believe. 9 being September, A being October, B Nov etc. would also match the engine. The one in my car was built two days before the car.

A15 is the scheduled production date October 15 1968. Keep in mind it is not necessarily the actual production date. Engines are built before the car. Your engine should have at least the last eight digits of the VIN stamped into it on the passenger side of the block.

A15 could be October 15. Possible but I don't know how likely a 10-14 engine build date would be in the car. Looks like a very early built car so it could be.

R/T : yes it the same #'s. engine build date is 10-14 i always thought there was more lead time then 24 hours. but then again your saying projected build date

Diffinally Oct 15 n the engine build date is usually no longer than 7 days,n by the way Hamtramck didnt close in 68,it was January 1980

Isn’t the VIN for 68 up on top at the bell housing? Or, was that plant specific? I had a 68 GTX that was up there, mirror image on the 727 right across from it.

Check your car over, looking at codes for the steering box, lower control arms, wiper motor, rad support brackets, etc for build date codes, these will be usally a 1-2 month time frame before car was built.
