My 11 year old son has been obsessed with Superbirds since Daytona Turkey rod run 2019. We actually went over to guys house we met at a car show recently to check out his Superbird clone he's building. He mentioned he had a couple cars for sale, so we checked them out. As soon as the cover came off this '73 Basin street blue Road Runner I knew we were taking it home. A Canadian export car that somehow ended up in GA by 1983 is equipped with a 340 engine, power disc brakes, power steering, factory hood pins, wheel well moldings, a 2 tone bench seat, and rear speaker fade for the AM radio. Car has very little rust. My son has already started stripping the engine bay for repaint (He wants to leave the outside as is and satin clear it) He wants a go-wing and Cragars! This is a long term build as he has 6 years to get there, but we will start soon as his 16 year old brothers C10 is almost done.

Very cool! I was supposed to have a dart or duster ready for my son when he starts driving, now it's only 3 yrs away and I haven't even begun !

So nice you get to work so closely with your sons. Take lots of photos of the two of you and the car. 30 years down the road you'll be glad you did.

When my friend and I used to walk to school there was a guy who had a 73 340 Road Runner in basin street blue with white stripes just like that. It had black interior and was a 4 speed car. We walked by it every day . One day I saw the car for sale, years later. My friend bought it for $650.00. He blew the 340 up the sold the car. The guy who bought it restored it,and put a 360 engine in it. I haven't seen the car in years. Your car looks like a great project.

Love that color.

This kid is a beast...Already removed the seats and scrubbed floorboards (They are gorgeous, love these southern cars) pressure washed engine bay, cleaned and vinyl painted the door panels, and polished all the door hardware. I helped him detail out the headlamp bezels. They were too beat up to polish. They were body worked, primed and painted in the past. We will keep a look out for some better ones. He said he's going to restore the grill this weekend.......

Another busy weekend....I mixed him up some paint to get the faded out deck lid to match the rest of the car before we satin clear the whole thing. Love seeing him excited to work on it.

Little update, its been a while. The C10 is on the road and running great so we can finally start on this. He got the interior stripped out and painted up. A new headliner is on the way. We got the engine bay stripped down for all new brake system, wiper motor, and battery tray. Somewhere he got the great idea to film it all, so we've been making videos of him working on it...pretty funny...He got the go-wing and eyebrow spoilers on the last one.

Very cool. My first car was a ‘73 Charger that was Super Blue (Basin St Blue - Plymouth). It’s a pretty funky color.

Very cool story. I gave my Son my second 70 Charger 500 S.E. for his 16th Birthday for us to restore together.
