Idiots renting U-Hauls

"Do I want insurance? the guy replied" Hell no, that's just a rip off.

the sprinkler pipe should not be the first, low hanging thing......the world is full of retards and this was bound to happen....... the bigger retard was whoever designed and approved that construction
There are requirements for minimum and maximum clearances for sprinklers in a given construction type of course -
and of course, sprinkler systems in exposed environments in colder climates are going to be dry pipe systems,
since the threat of freezing is obvious, meaning there needs to be proper pitches and slopes to the installation
for proper drainage...but ultimately, the choice comes down to either the piping being the lowest part of the
system or the sprinkler heads.
Trust me, you want the piping to be lowest...

So - how long have you been in the biz, anyways?

On a rental, it usually says right in the drivers view in the mirror the truck height does'nt it??
I guess i meant what I did first, lol.
It sure should say somplace you cant miss, how tall a rental truck is. And, from what i have read, insurance does NOT cover damage to the box.

I have seen several compilations of crashes at that bridge. I'm surprised that i have never seen one of those trucks rear-ended, considering how fast some of them stop.

I made a lot of money running wrecker chasing Uhauls!

In other U-Haul news....

Tourists Are Renting U-Hauls in Hawaii to Avoid Extremely High Rental Car Costs

The cheapest is over 700 a day, that's ridiculous. Price gouging at It's best. Gouging is getting very popular. 4x8 chip board was under 10 bucks, now 40 bucks a sheet. It's all over the edge. Oh by the way, they should have raised that bridge years ago. That bridge is famous for getting hit .

My son worked for U-Haul for almost four years. You'd be surprised at the number of meth heads, tweekers, and plain knuckle-draggers that try to rent equipment. My son was never afraid to turn away shady-looking customers. Or, people wanting to use a cash card (like an EBT card, for example), versus a debit or credit card. He has found crack, H, and pot in trucks and trailers. People have hauled cars in the 27' trucks, which is very much against company rules. Crazy people want **** for free, of course.

It seems like the renters should have some type of CDL to rent the bigger trucks.

Years ago, while heading east in western Nebraska on I-80 at night, I was passed by a Jeep CJ5 pulling a U Haul trailer about the length of a car. I was running 75, and as he passed me, I could see his Jeep bobbing back and forth. I slowed down and let him get a long ways ahead of me. I expected to see him in a fiery crash in the ditch, but never did.

A few years ago, my son and family were moving, and he went to U- Haul to rent a truck. They said they had a big truck, but it had a manual transmission. They asked him if he could drive a manual, and he replied he could. They rented him an International with tandem axles and a 9-speed Roadranger transmission. To the uninformed, this is an unsynchronized compound tranny commonly found in big highway rigs. He barely got it out of town, with a lot of gear crashing. Once he got it up into 5th gear, he was at a loss what to do next. In desperation, he called me to see if I had ever experienced this kind of setup. Luckily, the VFD I was with had the same transmission in its water tanker, which I had learned to drive. I gave him a quick lesson over the phone, and he managed to get to my place with it, where I could take him for a drive and show him some of the tricks of shifting it. I think the rental agency did him a big injustice in sending him out in a truck like this ; it was very unsafe. Likely no-one at the rental company could drive it either. Truck should have had an automatic in it for rental use.

They did raise it not long ago, maybe a year. Big flashing billboard and some still seem to hit it.

Kind of neat how the guy living there had installed cameras and has a YouTube channel for years now. I thought raising the bridge recently was going to put him out of business. Nope

I bought a box truck to move a couple families and houses to our new homes in a new state. The FIRST thing you do is measure how tall it is, and the second is, you become aware of everything you might hit with it, signs, trees, house eaves, overhangs on buildings/gas stations, power lines, everything!
I guess rental companies dont require common sense, just a drivers license and a credit card.
Ever been to a U Haul?

Crap like this has been going on for years but it seems to be happening more and more these days. Makes ya wonder how many crack babies are now old enough to drive.....
